Screen Problems When Playing Dead Space :(

When I'm playing Dead Space and try to set the resolution anywhere below 800x600 (60Hz) is messes up. I cant see anything, it's all distorted and unlear. The lowest resolution you can set it is 640x480Hz. Please Help!

    Thanks.

Also, When I exit to desktop it's still messed up.

Well, with a display of 1680x1050, its a Widescreen 16:10 resolution.

The lowest 16:10 WS resolution, I think, is 1440x900. (Could be wrong here)

Choosing any lower 4:3 resolutions, will possibly "stretch" the Image. So naturally it will look distorted and unclear.
You can try setting it to maintain the resolution, giving black bars at the side. This may help a little.

The next problem is you are quite short of the specs needed for Dead Space, and gaming in general in Windows 7.

These are the bare minimum requirements:

    Minimum System Requirements
    OS: Windows XP/Vista
    Processor: Pentium 4 @ 2.8 GHz / Equivalent
    Memory: 1 Gb
    Hard Drive: 7 Gb free
    Video Memory: 256 Mb
Video Card: nVidia GeForce 6800 / ATI Radeon X1600 Pro
    Sound Card: DirectX Compatible
    DirectX: 9.0c

Keep in mind, the minimum requirements is just what it takes to run the game. that doesnt mean it will run well.

Recommended Requirements are a bit higher, and really what you need to play the game.

It looks like you have a 2.1Hgz CPU and a Integrated GPU (Gforce 6100)
Both seem to fall short of the minimum requirements, and integrated graphics in general are not meant for gaming

Also, you may actually need a bit more RAm than 2GB for gaming in Win7.
Because keep in mind, 7 itself will use approx. 1GB. The game also needs video memory, (and with intergrated graphics needs to be borrowed from the system, memory) This really only leaves you approx. 512-756MB available for games.
This is why many will suggest 3-4GB.

I know this isn't what you want to hear. Sorry.

Well thanks for the insight Wishmaster but the game actually runs fine, I've been able to play multiple games (Prototype, COD MW, WAW, MW2, Gta San Andreas, Left 4 Dead 2 (I can play L4D AND GTA with High setting, even antialising or whatever it's called) Mafia 2) on my HORRIBLE computer with very good quality if I set the setting to minimum. This game plays fine but I just wanted to set the resolution a bit lower so I could boost up the setting a bit, but when I do it gets.. messy.

I have another monitor, it's a hp also, highest resolution id 1400x900.. do u think it would be better to play it on there?

Lower resolutions will certainly help it run smoother.

But the 1680x1050 monitor should be able to run the game at 1440x900.
They are both 16:10 resolutions, so the image wouldnt be stretched ot anything.

As I mentioned before, you can run those lower resolutions, but the Fullscreen type will stretch out of proportion.

Im not familiar with your Graphics card, but there should be a setting so you can set it not to fit the Image to screen.

Honestly the only way I know to do it and maintain the aspect ratio.
