My problems with Zengine in Windows 7 are a little different, I dont have any issue isntalling both the 32 and 64 bit versions, or starting the Zengine program, but whenever I try to edit a mod's exe trigger, I cant get the window that elts me navigate to the exe I want to add to the trigger list.

In fact, anything that involves the Zengine navigating through folders (actions such as exporting mods, importing mods, editing trigger exes, etc) doesnt work, whenever I click the "..." button, nothing happens.

Im lucky that I still have a saved mod for my games, as double-clicking teh mod file will upload it into teh Zengine manager, but it is still a niusance - has anybody else enountered this problem?

Also, I dont know if it is related, but despite having installed the 64bit version of zengine, it appears on my task manager as zboard.exe *32. Is this normal?

Incidentally I am running RC 7100.
I've noticed that Task Manager lists it as "zboard.exe *32" as well and just assumed that the "64-bit-ness" of the program was that it is x64-compatible.

What puzzles me on this issue is that, at this very early date, I would think that everyone's Win 7 x64 RC installation should be identical with only hardware differences. Many report no problems at all and here we are with it not working. Unfortunately, we will get no help from Ideazon/SteelSeries as they have responded to my tech support inquiry with "we will support Win 7 when it is released."

If anyone with z-engine working on Win 7 x64 RC is still following this thread, is your z-engine listed as 32-bit or 64-bit in Task manager?

I will take a look at mine when I get home. I will try to edit a layout too as I have never done that. I just pick the game I am playing and go.

Editing buttons and such for each custom mode seems to work fine, I only have trouble when I try to import/export custom mods, or edit the trigger exes.

tbh its also a function I rarely use, but since the program seems to no longer be getting the support it used to when ideazon ran things, it would be practical to be able to take, say, my mod for TF2 and add an exe for Modern Warfare 2 (when its released) to it so I can use the same keys in both games.

After testing mine is still working perfectly. Even with uninstalling and reloading it.

Yes, it seems to load the 32bit version, not the 64bit. The first clue is that is installs into the x86 directory, not the regular 64bit program files. Second clue is that *32 in the task manager.

Does anyone know if it is the same in Vista64?

    Greetings,

I was able to fix this problem for myself by disabling the program's skinning. Open the Z engine software, click tools, then skins, and at the bottom tick "Do not use skins". Hope this helps anyone having ths issue.

The latest version for x64 Vista now works on my Win 7 x64 installation, but I need to launch it manually . . two times. This might have something to do with me not running the applet in the background at startup. It seems to function normally, but until I actually play a game I won't know for certain.

I am good. I do launch the program, see a small window open briefly in the upper left of the screen, launch it again and the icon appears in my tray. I then launch the game - Oblivion - and it plays fine.

This is on Win 7 x64 RC. I am a happy boy.

    I'm experiencing same issue!

    Hi All,

I am experiencing the same issue as Pepar. I'm at my wits end as to try to figure out how to get the Fang Z-Engine to work under Windows 7 64 bit edition RTM. Pepar, what finally worked for you?

    Any help greatly appreciated!
