This has to be one of my most favourite games of all time. I've not played it in a while but I think I'll have to give it a go again.

For those who are interested, I came across this version that seems to support the latest OSes upto Windows 7 64 bit, and it comes with Core Contingency, Battle Tactics and the map editor built in. It's £7.99 to download but I think it's worth it. It's the original game, but probably re-engineered in some way to make it compatible.

Or even better here for $5.99 USD:

TA is one of my all time favorites as well. Mine is working in Win7, but I installed on XP with a noCD, and just copied my Game directory when I upgraded from WinXP to Win7 and it kept working...

I have loved this game forever, however i havent been able to get teh game to run right since it was on windows 95! I have tried on computers with win XP, 200, vista, and now windows 7 and i have the same problem every time. I will run the game and it seems to work fine, however about 30 seconds into the game, the colors all invert. I have tried running in compatibility mode, disabling themes, and diabling the notifications to make changes to the computer. I would love some help!! I purcahsed this copy from GOG.com in the hopes that it would fix the problem, however i have the same issue. HELP!!

I have never seen that behavior, Mine worked on Win98, win2k, Winxp and now Win7-64 without problem.

I tried to check my compatability settings but I don't even see the compatibility tab on the EXE for TA.

I also had problems running TA in windows 7. Started off with windows 7 Home premium. Tried to run the disks. Disk 1 loaded with no problem. Wouldn't load Core Contingency or Battle Tactics. Tried to transfer TA files from my old xp desk top via usb stick. Everything would transfer except the CC files. Even trying the compatibility mode wouldn't help. Upgraded to windows 7 professional hoping using the xp mode would work. loaded everything again in that mode. Everything loaded but had problems with Dir x when tried to launch. Got an all-in-one download from War Zone. That version worked on my computer but was always asking permission for access and would not launch in the game room at Warzone. I was ready to try Dual booting my computer with XP.

My solution that worked for me: There is a file called "Program files (x86)". This is the file for all 32 bit programs. When downloading TA disk 1 it wants to create a file desination. Choose browse and select Program files (x86). Load disk 1 to that file.

I wasn't able to run the CC and BT exe. But I was able to transfer the files from those disks to Program files (x86). I was also able to transfer any file from the usb stick with no problems.

The program started with no problems. Didn't ask for access or anything. Started just like it does on XP. I am also able to play on Warzone without any launch problems. Hope this helps.
