    Ventrilo issue?

I'm running Win 7 x64 RC as a secondary OS. As it turns out, and this was not how I iintended it, it's become my primary OS and I only boot XP when I want to play COD4. I have COD4 MP working thanks to the tips I found here but my issue comes with Ventrilo. The app installs and runs fine (installed the x64 version) until I start the game. As soon as the Ventrilo window loses focus, even with any other app or window including its own properties page, I can no longer key my mic. and talk to others on the channel.

Has anyone experienced this and/or solved the issue?

I have an Athlon 64 x2 4200+, Asus A8N SLI Premium, EVGA GTX 260 core 216. Using on-board sound but I doubt that's the issue.

just as a goof. have you tried the 32bit client? it's ventrilo i don't think 64 vs 32 would make much a difference.

I had some problems with Ventrilo at first too.

Try going into your Sound properties in Control Panel, selecting your Microphone properties and going to the advanced tab.

Uncheck - "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device"

Also, I run my ventrilo client as Admin.

    This solved all my problems.

Changed the mic setting with no help, then restarted Vent but ran as an administrator and it worked perfectly.

    THANKS...
