Halo 2 Will Install but not run

So I finally broke down and bought Halo 2. All excited and got it installed. Go to run it and nothing happened. Mouse turned to the busy signal then reverted back to default. I checked task manager and watched the processes when I tried to run the game. It shows up for a while then just disappears. I don't really know what's causing it. I've read all over the internet that people are easily running Halo 2 on Windows 7.

My computer is more than sufficient but I had an idea that maybe my video card was to blame.
    i7-2620M - 2.7ghz
    nVidia GT 550m 1GB
    4GB DDR3
    Windows 7 Professional

I'm wondering if the Optimus software is making Halo think that I don't have a sufficient video card since the nVidia card doesn't kick in until the game is running. I don't know what else it could be. Any suggestions would be helpful.

It looks like an Onboard Video Card, to the best of my knowledge, those are never that good for games. I don't know how much of a resource Hog Halo is but if you say that your computer is more than capable of running it, then you may want to try to update your drivers to the latest version. Updating your audio drivers can't hurt either.

I've played Halo 2 on my Windows 7 64 bit PC.
NVIDIA Geforce GT 220 1024 Meg PCIe,
2.60GHz AMD Athlon II X4 620 Quad Core,
    8GB 4GB X 2 Kingston PC10600 DDR3 1333MHz Memory,
    Asus M4N68T-M V2 µATX Motherboard.
I don't have it installed at the moment, but if I remember correctly, it checks for the DVD when you launch it to play it. Make sure your disk is in the drive you installed it from when you launch the game.

My laptop has switchable graphics. The Nvidia card is dedicated. It just only turns on once the game is actually running. The game won't even start. I've reinstalled several times and always had the DVD in the drive. I've tried all kinds of different methods I've found online and none have worked.
