New Vegas seems to be lacking in terms of mods compared to whats available for FO3

Well I Haven't touched the game since I grudgingly finished it a few months back. Now that I got it updated with the latest patch I "might" look at it again..... Might.

BTW I’ve never played either FO3 or NV with mods. Guess I’m getting too lazy, or bored, to even try them.

With that said if I had to try one mod, what would it be? (Fallout New Vegas)

    That depends.
Would you want something that changes gameplay mechanics itself, making it harder to survive and more realistic, Alternate Interface, or make just it look prettier?

Theres so many mods it would really be hard to choose just 1 single one ..

But if I was to choose just 1, it would have to be DarnUI.

Reason is, Ive always hated the default interface. And in FO3 and FONV, thats the very first thing I do, is change it over to Darns.

Well I've never played either game in hardcore mode so a little more realistic might be interesting. As for prettier.... meh

What I don't feel like doing is editing a thousand pieces of code (yes I know how) as I'm taking the lazy way out

Heres a look at DARN UI with the Primary Needs HUD plug in:

For this one, you just need to edit your .ini file to add the fonts.
You also need the 2 mods obviosly, and New Vegas Script Extender (For the PN HUD plug in)

Mine has the Pitt Gall Ststs & Icons, but the UI will look the same without it, will just be the FO boy instead.

Beyond the UI mods .. Not sure what else to suggest. My texture mods for example are a combination of ACES landscape, and parts of the NMC HD overhaul from FO3 (since most textures were reused)
It did take a bit of work to get it all organized, and turned into a FOMM though.
Im not really sure off hand what other texture mods are good.

OH .. I also use a couple of the modules from XFOs overhaul.
Unsneak, Unmsg, and the Hardcore Hunger/Third - Food/Drink plugins.
This makes it so theres no "Hidden" bar when sneaking, or "Empty" message on crates.
The Hardcore plug ins make Hunger and thirst increase a bit faster. I found default to be to slow. So youll need to eat and drink a bit more often.
The other makes it so that Food and Drinks just satisfy needs and you get no healing from them.
So, Stimpacks will be your only means of healing.

I find this helps a bit with immersion.

And as mentioned, Electro City is really good... and New Vegas redesigned is a must IMHO. But sadly you cant get it ATM.

ive been playing with the weather mod you talked about, and its pretty good. Night is actually night, almost pitch black. the electro city mod helps and the weather effects are far superior the the vanilla new vegas.

Yea, I really like. It does make a huge difference.

For me, if I used Darker Nights, it was a bit too dark for my tastes.

It took me a bit of playing around with the Imaginator, but it helped alot for me to tune everything in to what I thought it just right. Nights are darker now without being too dark.

And I certainly agree, ElectroCity really does come to life with the nights being darker.
