    I can vouch for Joy2Key, at least on XP. It converts your joypad to a mouse, and yes, it's as awkward as it sounds. Wouldn't recommend playing any twitch realtime games with it.

    I solved this by checking some of the display-related boxes in the compatibility options for the GTA-SA executable. I'm running through Steam, so I cannot guarantee it will work for others. I'm not in Windows right now, so I cannot remember exactly what I checked, but I know there was one about High DPI displays and one about visual themes. There may have been another; I did not go with an OS compatibility mode or the 256 colors or the small resolution. No need to alt-tab or install any special software or anything.

    this used to happen to me alot, so i used to go on the map and drag the mouse across it and if this didnt work i use to alt and tab out and then back in, hope this helps

    Update


    Its been awhile since this thread has been updated, but coming up high on google so wanted to confirm that killing IPoint.exe (Microsoft intellipoint driver) on Windows 8 works to fix this
