    What is there to learn besides navigation and the user interface? Tactics, weaponry, ships?

    This.

    For instance, don't mix gun or tank types, different strategies for attacking NPCs vs players, how the market works, how interaction between players can work in different situations, scanning, etc.

    There is a lot to learn, and not all of it makes sense or is self explanatory.

    I've dealt with that before, all of it pays off. You can't expect a good "space" game to be a cakewalk. More to learn means a great playing experience, it's part of a game.

    I've played X3 - Terran Conflict before, and I loved it.

    - Dungeons and Dragons Online
    - Dynasty Warriors Online
