Game Booster increased stability on Fallout 3

Fallout 3 crashes all the time on my desktop (see specs listed for this account). Well, it used to. I tried running it with IOBit Game Booster enabled and it suddenly stopped crashing all the time. Actually it hasn't crashed since. Anyone have any ideas as to why Fallout 3 is so unstable?

i dunno, it's one of those things.

fallout 3 used to crash like crazy with me when going through doors.

i had to keep a separate xp install just for that game. i thought it was because of my sound card, but other x-fi users reported no problems.

strangely (but fortunately), the new las vegas has only crashed once in about 40 hours of playing...:)

I've actually been quite lucky with FO3.
I haven't had many issues or crashes, and thats even w/the game heavily modded.

I think theres a variety of reasons that cause instability for it.
If it helps, a few I am aware of:

    1) If you have FFDshow installed, or a codec pack that uses it:
In the FFD Audio config, make sure the FO3.exe is excluded. It has been known to cause issues for some setups.

    2) Some Anti-Viruses may interfere as well.
If you do not have one that automatically goes into a Silent Mode when gaming fullscreen, you may wish to try excluding the FO3 folder from scanning, or temporarily disable your AV and test, to see if it helps any.

    3) Setting the setup.exe to compatability mode (Vista SP1) and run Admin helped w/a few issues I had. Also, the patches as well.

    4) Deleting the Fallout .ini in the Documents/My Games folder and reset all settings.
(Also the ini file in the GFWL folder)
    Documents/My Games/Fallout 3/Saves/ <GFWL user name>

Although none of the above may the cause for you, it may be worth a try.
