    Opinions on Game Booster

So I was thinking about trying out Game Booster. Anyone have anything good or bad to say about it?

In windows 7 it's pretty much useless. I've tried it, and didn't see any problems, nor any difference in game performance, but it is somewhat useful in xp machines with limited resources

I tried it in past. It was more or less useless. Didn't see any improvement. Below are some apps which did increase my gaming performance. May be you'd like to check it out.

Yup that was the one. Good to know, and I guess I will avoid it.

Theres simply software that can substitute for hardware.
Many of these types of things are just scams.

If you have issues running a game you have a few options
(provided all drivers are up to date)

    1) Shut down any un-needed programs before starting your gaming session
    2) Lower graphical settings in game to get things running a bit smoother
    3) Upgrade your Graphics Card or other Hardware

Others may disagree, but this is how I see it

    Exactly right.

Add more memory and/or get a faster HDD.. the easiest possible upgrades, but they can make a huge difference. Doubling the RAM usually makes the difference between an unresponsive system and one that snaps between a running game and the desktop. A faster HDD will almost always make programs load faster.

if your pc is very close to minimum specs for the game, then gamebooster might help claw back a few megs of ram and a processor cycle or two.

if your pc is already up to spec, then gamebooster would be a waste of time - all it does is temporarily disable selected services and defrag your game folders. you'll waste more time starting and stopping gamebooster than you gain in-game.

Along with these, you can also try changing the game's process's priority to high or realtime to boost your gaming performance.

GameBooster is pointless for me. If I wanted a program like GameBooster, I could write my own in C# in a matter of a few minutes. All it does is close background stuff, and turn off Aero. Plus, as already mentioned, IOBit has a terrible Rep for damaging the OS. I distrust IOBit more than I do Adobe at this point, and Adobe has been pretty bad lately.
