Unique 360/W7 issue?

I had my 360 routed through my laptop (Vista) for Live, and it worked flawlessly, How can I do this to my Desktop (W7)? My boss said something about opening ports, Adjusting my TCP/IP, and some other stuff like that. I'm a gearhead, I like cars, what he explained to me might as well be in greek.

Bridging connections doesn't work for me unless there is a series of steps I'm supposed to be doing in order to obtain the desired result. If you have any questions, I'll be checking this on a 5-10 minute basis, so feel free to ask away. I've tried just about everything. And remember, I'm a techni-tard, so please translate into crayola-level for me. Thanks much!!

We need more info about your system setup (32 bit or 64) Your network setup, and anything else you can think of

Umm, AT&T Router/modem, Where would I go to find out the rest, like the bit and all that?

Is it really different for every PC? All I really know is that it is a Desktop Emachines with a wireless card, and what I want to do with it is connect to Xbox live using my Desktop as an access point because the router is in the living room, and the TV/PC/360 is in the bedroom... on the other side of the house. I have tried the bridge method, but it never gets me on Live, and it always kills my computers internet connection. This has got to be like everything else I have ever been frustrated with (so easy I'll kick myself when I figure it out) but I don't have the know-how to go about fixing it. If y'all can point me in the right direction, I'd be eternally grateful, and may offer my wrench skills if you live close enough!

Precisely! How do I give good rep, because on other forums, people just stare vacantly at my posts, because I don't make much sense. I want to substitute the Vista laptop (since the wife and I are splitting up, merry effin Christmas) and use my desktop in its place.

is there any certain method I need to perform this in? I.e. Plug ethernet into Xbox, turn xbox on, bridge connection, etc.?

Not that I am aware of. plug in ethernet, turn on wifi then create the bridge. It shouldnt be a problem unless you are using encryption

When I used to try and bridge the connection, it would kill the internet to my computer, thus disabling me from figuring out what went wrong because like I said before, I'm a gearhead, not a Techie.
