Total annihilation works for about 10-30 minutes and then it crashes

MY favorite game in the whole world wont work on my computer... I just got a new laptop after haveing a frankenstien 1999 computer... My new computer will run for a little while on Total annihilation... then it crashes with a staticy (only way to describe it) screen or a flickering black screen until the computer reboots... And before anyone asks... I am a TA vet of over 13 years... BUT THIS IS DRIVING ME INSANE... If it helps I did a clean install without mods netting the same results... Sometimes after crashing or after flicking black screen I get bluescreen ... I am running windows 7 64 bit... If anyone could help me I would consider you a savor of a TA player who misses his TotalA very much... If anyone has had simmular problems please comment about it... AND PLEASE HELP ME!!! I MISS total annihilation!!! I have tryed compatibility settings and running as aminastrator... THIS IS DRIVING ME NUTS!!!o HEEEEEEEEEEEEELP ME!!! "I will see if it does it to any of my older games" (P.S.) Could it be that I have my laptop battery out??? I know that is not a normal question at this point but it is the only thing I can think of at this point that might have a 0.000001% chance of effecting it" I am computer savy with older models but as I said this is a new computer... And my first laptop that isnt a hunk of junk... (I have only ran it as a aministrator)(Should I try it without that) (Or try to run it with areo disabled)(Or try useing basic theme) (I sorta know how to modify regestrys if that will help at all) (If their is anymore information you need just ask me) (could it have something to do with my mouse as it randomly clicks?)

im amazed that you can play that long. 64bit is not friendly with old games (TA ftw). chances are its that...
you can always run the game in a virtual box, with xp installed on it. google VMware, if you want to try that.

Best game ever (it even has no resolution limits and will use what the OS has)

TA *should* just work. (it works for me, except for the damned screen flashing...)

Lets go over the basics: what is the blue screen?
The event log will tell you what caused it.
I have a gut feeling it's something to do with either overheating or video, or both.

Since this is a laptop, it wouldnt be a bad idea to see what is the latest bios and/or driver update available from your system manufacturer

    +1

More so since you mentioned it is a brand new install... something tells me it is driver related.

Download latest drivers for Audio/Video cards, uninstall the ones you have now (including PhysX if you run Nvidia), restart and install the newer drivers.

(D) Updateing my display driver helped alot... (E) I didnt have to use a emulator (F) SEVEN FORUMS ROCKS BIG TIME (G) You guys have made my day... TY so much... I am trying to make a vidio but I am wondering if I can dedicate it to seven forums? (It will be a tutorial for new people and stuff) (I also want to say that all of your sugestions were very very very helpful) (I also wish to say you have made this TA players day) P.S. haha excellent to hear you have it working.

i'll have to try that setting to classic to see if it gets rid of the screen flashing here.

now that you do have it working... i read of this multi-core exe patch today:
Totala Multicore Fix - Files - TA Files - File Catalog - No One's Total Annihilation Page

3.1c + nocd compiled in - runs on just one core
    (havent tried it yet)

EDIT: 2000 units? how did you do that?
