All I play are shooters, and so far, no shooter has let me down on my rig... even the unoptimized console ports like Vegas & Vegas 2.

If it helps by inviting people to fill up their PC specs on their profile, then... I welcome 10 posts like this as this only mean, less problems when we try to ask or receive help.

as for experiences, i had a great game of bc2 vietnam last night, and i'm going to start it up again soon.

i'm lucky enough to be able to crank up the 5.1 without disturbing anyone, except a few cats and ducks. i think it makes a difference sometimes.

There are posts, threads, signatures, how to's, and reminders all over this forum about posting system specs, and still..... you find plenty of posts asking users to fill in their system specs

    But one....

Ok, first off we can’t help if you don’t supply the most basic of information – systems specs. The importance of this can’t be overstated since game performance is highly dependent on your hardware. Please see this tutorial on filling out system specs as well as my How To Ask For Help guide.
    Tips on Troubleshooting Game Issues

Anyway I'll play and say this... I typically build my rigs for games, but they must also be able to do a multitude of things. With the system I have now I see no reason to not be able to play any game now and those on the horizon :)

Mine is down in the specs.

    Intel i7 950 3.06Ghz oc'd to 3.50ghz with a Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro 7 cooler
    Asus Rampage iii Extreme
    OCZ 6GB HPC Reaper-x 1.6v
EVGA GTX 470 (Its is oc'd by me, but can't remember my clocks off cuff)
EVGA 8800 Ultra (Physx) (Not in my specs as its not the best card for physx imo)
Windows/apps/programs installed on a Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB
Games/Benchmark apps/progs are installed on a Western Digital Caviar Black 750GB HDD
Music and what not on a Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB
    Coolermaster HAF-932 full tower case
    Logitech EX110 Wireless keyboard
    Logitech G9 wired mouse
    Senneheiser CX500 in-ear phones
    Samsung 2433BW 24" Widescreen Monitor

It does me good, this is actually my second gaming rig in 3 years. he he, that i7 was calling my name, just need a pair of 570's and a 260 1GB for physx and that should be it until ivy bridge hits the stores .

    Think that's everything

My specs are easily viewable in the link under my avatar.
The system is several years old now, I've only upgraded the video card. (originally it was sli 8800gtx's, but the heat and power consumption were just ridiculous)
It has played everything I have thrown at it in 1080p resolution without problem.
I've been very happy with this system.
I have a boot drive, and have moved the pagefile to a drive that is only used for storage otherwise. This increased performance a bit.
Other than that not much in the way of custom set up. I've just separated the drives responsible for booting, pagefile, and the actual games.
The CPU is the only bottleneck I've noticed and even it only shows up in large RTS game conflicts with many players active.
Generally using the ASUS onboard auto clock tool to 15% will solve even that. In retrospect I probably should have gone with a more reasonably priced psu, and a quad core cpu. (new at the time this psu was nearly 500 bucks I believe they still sell in the 330 neighborhood) I also over spent on the case, but I plan on using this case for at least 2 more builds. I'm already starting to piece together a i7 rig as the money slowly becomes available.

I built 2 near same systems.

This is my system, my system specs are below etc. I need a better video card, Then I will try and over clock my system some. Near same set up and cpu cooler can do like 4.2 on air. I will be happy with 3.8 or so.. I would just love a nv 580 or 570, might even wee wee on me self, ha ha..>

*Changed out my speaker set up from my mini shelf stereo and 2 speakers to my 5.1 set up..

Mine is down in the specs. I use it for gaming (I don't own any console anymore unfortunately, apart from an old glorious N64), to run an old copy of Photoshop CS2 and to do some HD video editing (videos I make with my camera are usually @ 720p).

So, it's kind of a general purpose machine after all and I just wanted it to be something good (and perhaps lasting) when I bought it.
All I might need now is a little SSD but I'll add it when the prices go down a little bit more
