My icons were crap when I installed the game and want to change them, but it says the picture has to be an icon. How do I do this?

Thank guys. One more question if you can answer, do you have an estimated guy about how much pixels a normal game icon may have?

There's a limit but someone else will need to answer.

I just wanted to add, if you like box art a lot, if you browse to Windows Games Explorer, where it lists the games you've installed, and you drag and drop from there you can use these icons, which are often nice and almost never used on the desktop :)

Usually an icon file contains more than one image, to be able to re-scale it without trouble. The images in the icons, as far as I know, usually range from 16 to 256 pixels and from 4bpp to 24bpp + alpha.

And, if you want to create icons while you're offline, a good free program to create an icon file from a png (which supports also alpha channel) is IcoFX. You may want to give it a try!!

Just launch IcoFX, load the png you want to use as an icon then click the Windows "orb-like" button on the toolbar. IcoFX would usually take care of the rest for you
