    Crysis 2 leaked.

    Crysis 2 Leaked

Apparently a early dev version of the long awaited crysis sequel has been leaked. EA would of course like to blame the file share networks but a leak like this can only have come from within their own ranks. File sharing is just a distribution method.

I personally plan to purchase this game and while tempting I won't be downloading it. The new crytek engine supports realtime dev across the 3 major gaming platforms PC, Xbox, and PS3. I would like to see more engines with this capability making more games available to more players in the future. So I suggest those who have, as I have, screamed into the heavens that the game they wanted wasn't released for their platform, also support the official release when it comes.

Meanwhile the link at the top of the post is EA's response to the leak.

I've seen it, it's pretty terrible. The game, not the leak. I can't say about the graphics (the leak only supports DX9), but the gameplay is plain boring. Also, it is now a grey corridor shooter. It's everything I hate about current gen FPS games. None of these things can be changed in a month. The motion blur is plain awful, you get motion blur from moving the camera, like you're either drunk or have just woken up in the morning. Not something I would buy.

I will agree with you on one point, Motion blur is completely ridiculous, I've never understood the point of the effect. It makes things look worse and eats into graphics performance needlessly.

As the pessimist/conspiracy theorist that I am, I think this is just another marketing ploy. Sure, whatever they will show you is bad, is ugly is whatever you hate but, good or bad... we are talking about it and that is exactly what they want.

I would not put it pass them that they were the ones leaking it. I mean, have you seen how many scripts is that page running?

I'll be buying the game but not after a couple or few weeks to see what the people say about it... this dumbing down the games so the console kiddies can buy it and play it is getting old for me... more so if the game will be as linear as some of you guys say it is.

    Is the demo out yet?

The "leak" is probably their way of putting out a demo. I have warhead but i'm not all that fond of it. Probably will skip this one.

The leak is buggy and does not even include the DX11 mode

yeah, I have a buddy that has it, the textures aren't even completed nor are many points of basic scripting. He showed me the little intro bit and one guy's head was basically just a head-shaped ball of light. It doesn't even do dx10 the leak is strictly dx9... and very buggy. Apparently refusing to run on win 7 x64 after about 3 minutes in.

I wouldn't put it past ea to intentionally leak it either. It serves two purposes for them , extra advertisement as well as another thing to blame 'the pirates' for. Which they need to do since they are trying to push copyright legislation through that would never expire. Nothing would ever become public domain again. Copyright was originally made to last 7 years. Which was fine, most the profit for a item is basically used up by then anyhow. Then disney came along and extended it to nearly 70 for his media. Now, they want even that limit removed.

At this rate there will be no culture in the future because it will all be owned. Which I'm quite certain is their final goal. Overbearing DRM has already ruined several games for me, namely Assassin's creed 2, which I paid good money for and never did get to play through.

    hey, hang in there, dude..

    - I'd reserve judgement at this stage, DX11 brings an awful lot to the table..
    - and for that reason alone, I'd give this DX9 "leak" a miss

I reckon Warhead rattles along OK in SP - haven't tried multiplayer Crysis at all, yet
    - but in SP mode, Warhead definitely expanded on some of the characterisations..

    - like many, I'm eager for the new game, but I expect it to come with a lot of whistles and bells that DX9 won't handle without screaming in agony..

    - meantime, guess I'll wait..

Hang on a minute, I've just seen something that has changed everything: YouTube - Crysis 2 Multiplayer Progression Part 1: The Nanosuit

The MP looks FUN. Causing environmental deaths has always been a cause of glee for me and kicking a car into someone's face tickles that particular bone of mine. I might just forgive it for being such a console port if the MP turns out to be good. I'll wait for a few weeks after it's out to hear opinions though. And if it lacks a good server browser it can say goodbye to any chance of me buying it. I'm not making that mistake again. Matchmaking is the worst thing that has ever happened to MP games.
