"Master of orion 2" colors are completely messed up.Help!

I installed master of orion 2 but it appears the colors are completely messed up. Anybody got any advice? I messed around with the compatability and colors and stuff but nothing seems to do the trick. O also I have an onboard videocard but I doubt that is the problem since the game is so old. And I am pretty sure it is fixabe I just dont know how.

    killjo12:

Please add your System Specs so other members can help you.
Go to the User Control Panel to enter this information.

At the moment, I don't have a clue about the computer on which you are trying to run this game.

    TNX!

Judging from the colors in your attachments it looks like old 256 VGA? MOO won't play well with that setting.
I'm sure you'll have to have DirectX 9 to run this; if you don't have it, install it and try again.
I'm sure you'll have to play with compatibility settings as well.

Let us know your System Specs and we'll go from there...

Yay I got it working properly, the graphics are decent. O and my computer is only 1.5 years old, the directx up to date. The only thing that sucks about my PC is that my videocard is busted and I am forced to use the onboard. Most games run on it. Thanks for the link rap. Now I have another problem, MMO 2 crashes like alot, and constantly. I am lucky even if I get to play it for like 5 minutes. Got any patches to fix it? The most common error is: "unlock invalid rect". And it doesnt seem to have a certain pattern which could be easly avoided. It comes around just random any time and any place. By clicking on the "leaders" tab or by clicking the "return" tab- just about anything.

Have you been to their site? It's been a long time but it seems to me there was an update for MOO way back when. Not sure...

Note: DirectX 9 is not a new version. And it doesn't come installed with Windows 7.
Given the age of MOO, (Win95 days wasn't it?) you're probably going to have to install DX9.
(I just looked it up: released in 1993. Wow!)
If it works without it, then don't bother, though. Keep it simple...

I hunted around among some boxes but couldn't find my old copy of MOO. Shame on you! Now you've done it!
