Sadly, realistic flight sims have been left behind. The last great one IMHO was Janes FA18 Hornet (managed to get it working on XP with some serious tweaking)....unfortunately Janes dissasociated themselves from simulators a long time ago.

Same with Silent Hunter III....although I believe it can be run under Windows 7 witha little bit of effort.

Yeah it'll work. But after running IV the graphics seem vintage.

Last one that I liked was Falcon 4.0, nothing else has come close. It is based off of 3 different scenarios on the Korean peninsula involving the north and the shouth, with China and Russia potentially getting involved as adversaries as well. The campaign is completely dynamic with tens of thousands of units moving on the map at real time doing separate missions while you do yours, no other flight sim has done that that I am aware of. There was a re-release called Falcon 4.0: Allied Force in 2005 that I am about to buy and try to get working on my desktop, there is a thread here about getting it to work with Windows 7 and since its $20 Im gonna give it a shot.

I loved flying in ut04 ut3 and etqw was pretty easy- I had fits trying to fly the chopper in frontlines fuel of war or jets etc in bf2 I hated it and being I play only with my pc keyboard etc.

I have a momo wheel and pedals for driving games but after crappy nfs games I never tried any others- vehicles in ut games or etqw was always easy to drive/use and I could have fun with them. Oh ya I like the cars in borderlands but took some getting use to driving with the mouse etc- get it down its pretty cool- and I love the boost.

I could only half way tweak out my momo settings for nfs games but they are ea poor quality stuff anyway. Then all the poor or fake patches for bf2 I have not bought 1 single ea game for 6 years now. Was times I could run around in bf2 mp and never shoot at 1 enemy- id be on foot no ammo and none to find and lost. I might hear fighting a mile away I get there or think I was there it was nothing- I hated that game- didnt really have a sp game either it was more like training maps etc. Ha ha mp- if I did get to see some action it was some jet fly over bomb or spray and kill me. Maybe later it got better or mods- but I was over it..

The only ea games I have that worked right start to end that I have is mohaa? I think it was- and dead space- dead space was give to me- mass effect was give to me - it me was a mess buggy junk- I played maybe a 1/4 of it never will play it again. I will never buy me2- will think about buying ds2 when its cheap tho..

I never really liked ut3 in general it was not half the game ut04 was imo- it was freken ugly to- other than water ha ha- messed up my flack cannon and in some mod maps you would have to aim at the waste to hit them in the face- it was so stupid- I do not know what they was thinking with that poor port crap, titans was not bad tho- wasted my money on that game.. I will not buy a ut4- maybe if said the best game the gods ever made I might get it when its 20 bucks or under.

I had waited and waited for rage- its beth now- I will wait until its 20 bucks or so- looks like fun tho- I think beth will gimp it..

Good luck- Have fun- See ya..

Can't believe no one's mentioned "Jet Fighter 3" yet. That was pretty awesome back in the day, too. Unfortunately, finding it is pretty hard these days, seeing as it's so dang old now.

I just watched TopGun last night lol a classic indeed, and that movie inspired me to get back into Flight simulation. However I don't know of any MODERN fighter pilot games ?

I don't mean HAWX or HAWX 2, from what I gather those games are too arcady and not realistic. I'm looking for something modern and realistic.

Do you know of any good fighter pilot simulation games ?

    Thanks

    PS

I love MS Flight Simulator but that's obviously not a fighter game.
I'd suggest checking out: SimHQ.com — Simulation Gaming News, Reviews, and Features

They have a forum section dedicated to modern era flight sims.

Also, DCS -Digital Combat Simulator is currently putting out some very realistic stuff: DCS - Digital Combat Simulator

Haven't tried their sims, but another possibility is the Third Wire Series: Third Wire Productions - Home

You could also try out Jetfighter 5 or 2015. I tried out JetFighter 2015, but options for a joystick is pretty limited. I'm going to try out Jetfighter 5 and see how good that one is.
