    Bully Scholarship Edition

Hi everyone, hope you can help me. I recently purchased bully and after booting it up on my pc i found that it was very buggish, For instance taking forever to load textures and hanging on loading screens to a full game crash. So after a bit of searching i found that i was not the only one having this and patch 1.2 was meant to fix it. So after downloading the patch i try installing it but it always gives me the same answer each time
    Code:
error 1628 failed to complete installation
I have looked around online and found many solutions/how tos on how to fix this but none seem to work. Any help would be muchly appreciated.

Edit : After a bit more searching around, it seems the reason it wont work is because unpatched bully won't with a system that has over 2GB of ram. So it's the update that's letting me down.

I am not sure it will help. I had troubles patching stalker a few days ago took me 17 hours to figure it out. It would not install until I moved the patch off of my C: drive to my E: drive then it installed like it should.

If you do not have another drive e: for storage etc, maybe you can burn it to a disc just like you would back up any file to a disc- then insert the disc and try to install from the disc- The disc would be like another drive etc..

Before moving it or burn to disc right click go to properties look bottom right click unlock- then move it etc. When ready to try to install it- right click it - look near the top and click run as administrator..

I do not know how large the patch is- but maybe you do not want to waste a whole disc just for that- maybe you have some other stuff you could back up on to the disc also- kill 2 birds in 1 shot etc..

If you do not have burning software- I use BurnAware free- it is on the list on this site under software- free great programs for w7- but I used it before I got w7- its pretty good.. It is easy to use- install then click burn data cd or data dvd- drag drop- click burn- or it might make ya click add files. I normally go into options and tell it to check info after burn- or sometimes it might not burn or right any way- tell it to check it normally fixed it for me..

FREE Great Programs for Windows 7

W7 can act stupid it seems.

    Hope it helps ya..

Thanks for the speedy reply, unfortunatley moving it do my second drive did not fix this. I'm at a wits end here, considering it's brand new and i can't even get past the intro. There are plenty of threads on google about the subjec (not the same game but same problem) and the main solution that everyone seems to say works is, changing a local policy rule to enforce local administrators to be the only ones who can install updates and the such. Even the Microsoft website didn't help

    Microsoft Games: InstallShield Error Messages

Thanks again anyway, hopefully i'll get to the bottom of this.

    Try:

    1) Right-click the installation file and "Run As Administrator"

    -or-

    2) Right-click and try mess with the "Compatibility Mode" settings.

Check out the bottom quoted section here:

Hauppauge Fix: How do I limit RAM that Win7 sees?

If the problem is due to the >2GB RAM thing mentioned in your first post, you may be able to temporarily limit the size of your RAM long enough to get the program installed and patched, then set it back to its max value afterward. :)

Thanks for the reply. Yet again this was to no availability. I've since sent the game back for a refund. It seems it just weren't to be :P Anyway thank you for all the information everyone.
