Well I'm guessing PS2 = Playstation 2, which was released in 2000, so I don't no it doesn't
The demo has a DX9 and DX11 renderer option. I don't see how setting it to DX11 makes the game look like a game on PS2...
To be honest though, graphics don't make a game, so I tend to ignore criticisms about graphics. Sure they help with immersion.
I'm not really going to judge the game based on the demo either. It's playable yea, but I do actually want to play DA:O beforehand. I'm guessing it's going to be like going from ME2 to ME1?
A truly great game has storyline, difficulty, graphics, and polish.
What I'm seeing of this doesn't really state it has any of those things.
Neither do I, but there does have to be some level of good graphics given today's gaming environment. Do I expect "Crysis" graphics... no, but I don't expect to see a step backwards either.
Now, to put things in perspective, I actually thought the graphics in DA:O were pretty good, so anything less than that is really silly.
DA:O is a great game with a great story line. How DA2 will fair is a guessing game at this point. Early reviews aren't so kind thus far.
One more thing about declining game graphics - Looking at Bioshock 1 I loved the graphics in it, Bioshock 2 I thought the graphics were a little dull and actually looked like a step backwards. I'm thinking that's what all the graphics bites criticism is coming from in DA2 - they look like a step backwards.
Of course I haven't tried the demo yet so I reserve judgment till I do.
My two cents.
Personally, I didn't have any issues with DA2s graphics. They are a bit different compared to 1, but still ..
Visually the game itself was fine to my eyes.
My complaints were simply due to Gameplay, and the fact there was nothing drawing me to the characters.
With the exception of 1 in the Demo, but that was mostly due to the the previous game.
I think we are dealing with an engine problem here.
I can barely tell the difference between dx9 and dx11 in this game.
Something isn't right....
I'm going to play around with settings some and see what I can manage, but I'm honestly just not impressed. They're only a couple of steps from this just being a straight up hack and slash.
Edit: okay I finally got it running clean in dx11 with maxed settings. I do have to say if the demo is really indicative of the difficulty curve, the game is way to easy now. Able to wipe out entire lines of enemies with a single instant ability. It really is leaning towards hack and slash for me.
That being said when I finally got it running it right the dx11 mode is very clean. It's missing that oppressive shader that actually gave the original a lot of it's oppressive feel. Which I actually liked.
The screens are standard .jpg format but both this website and photobucket call it a invalid format and won't let me upload them.
Okay ran out of ideas so I rar'ed one.
it's full settings at 1080p so I'm guessing that's about as good as the game looks. It's a very clean look, but the messy heavy feel of the original game actually gave it environment ... I don't know.

It's a very clean look, I actually preferred the dx10 shaders in the original. The dx11 shaders are too clean looking for the overall mood.
