looks great - also looks like lots of bf2 fans are going to have to upgrade their graphics card!
I seem to recall lots of BF2 players had to upgrade their video cards back then too. As long as DICE keeps the performance of BF3 similar to how BF2 was, then those on medium spec hardware should be more than fine.

    I've already pre-ordered 2 copies.

I've been a fan of the Battlefield series ever since I saw the trailer for BF2.
We went all out in 05,

I also bought 2142, but no one else I know really liked it. I thought it was a blast.

    OK, stupid questions...

1.- Battlefield 1942... A.- it is also an SP/Campaign game. B.- Based on WWII, correct?

2.- Battlefield 1943... same as 1 or something changed?

3.- Battlefield:Bad Company... not for PC I gather?

4.- Battlefield: Bad Company 2... played the campaign, like it, wanted more.

5.- Battlefield 2 & 2 Special forces... are those MP only, SP, or add-ons to BC2 and are they 2 different games?

I have also heard of Battlefield Vietnam but know very little of it.

I will not be buying any of the newer games for a while and I rather spend some money on these old games if they were as good as BC2 was... Again, I am only interested in the Campaign.

    A. Yes it had SP but it was more against bots than any real campaign. B. Correct.

2.- Battlefield 1943... same as 1 or something changed?

Console only, more like Bad Company 1, only WWII based. Used the Frostbite 1.5 engine.

3.- Battlefield:Bad Company... not for PC I gather?

Correct, another console only. First to use the Frostbite engine (1.0).

4.- Battlefield: Bad Company 2... played the campaign, like it, wanted more.

Never finished the SP, then again it is more like BF2 in that MP was the main focus. Also used the Frostbite 1.5 engine.

5.- Battlefield 2 & 2 Special forces... are those MP only, SP, or add-ons to BC2 and are they 2 different games?

There is SP element to them, but again it it only against bots and played on the same maps as MP.

I have also heard of Battlefield Vietnam but know very little of it.

Same as BF1942 only in set in Vietnam, and with Vietnam era weapons and vehicles.

I will not be buying any of the newer games for a while and I rather spend some money on these old games if they were as good as BC2 was... Again, I am only interested in the Campaign.
All things considering if looking for campaign type FPS games, then the Battlefield series on PC with the exception of BFBC2 is not it.

Thanks stormy13, I appreciate the honesty but... can you expand on it a little bit? Why would you think I would not enjoy it.

Don't get me wrong, something tells me that, if I never did play the old games of Battlefield is because, at the time, I saw something that I did not like.

That Battlefield 2 & Battlefield 2 Special Forces baffle me though, as I have never read anything about them.

The only difference between BF2/SF in single player and MP is that the single player is against bots (and mostly braindead ones at that), there is no campaign. Other than maybe weapons and vehicle practice (and there is only one of the maps in SP that has jets).

Then again if you don't have it, it might still be worth trying as it can be had for $10 or less now. Who knows, if you do pick it up you may even try playing online; and even after all these years there is still a decent number playing (just over 8500 at the time of posting this),

Special Forces is an expansion for Battlefield 2, adds different maps and weapons.
single player mode is against bots like was mentioned above, and you are limited to 16 or 32 players (I can't remember) and the maps are truncated.
    64 players online.

16 players only on SP. You can use something like this,

Battlefield 2 Single Player 64 Maps

to increase the map size, but still only 16 player (15 bots).

let me understand this (sorry, I'm thick headed )... both those games (BF2 & BF2SF) are not NORMAL or STD SP games but kinda like MP but with ai bots? Am I understanding this clearly? There is no Off-Line play but you don't fight other live persons?

I am just trying to figure out why I never heard of those 2 games or why I never played them. I do remember not wanting the WWII ones because I was kinda tired with MoH and CoD but can't recall about these two.

Battlefield 2 and the expansion Special Forces (requires BF2 as it is not a standalone game despite having a separate launcher) and the two booster packs (Euro Forces and Armored Fury, both free now after the last 1.5 patch), were never intended or really designed as single player games and as such have no single player component like you are used to seeing in something like the COD series.

    This sums it up nicely,

Battlefield 2 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Battlefield 2 is essentially a multiplayer game played via the Internet or on a local area network. A single-player mode with three difficulty levels is included. Both player modes use the same maps and use Battlefield's conquest game mode. Single-player mode allows 16 computer controlled players[9] while Internet mode allows up to 64 players. Players can choose to play as the United States Marine Corps, the People's Liberation Army, or the "Middle Eastern Coalition". Additional factions are playable through the expansion packs, such as the European Union. Progress in the game is made via promotions which allow additional weapons to be unlocked. By playing the game on ranked servers, players are able to add to their global player statistics. These statistics are used to award promotions and other achievements.
The gist of it is that if you're looking for a COD style FPS campaign kind of game, BF2 is not it.
