Most reviewers these days say what they think they are supposed to say. I've honestly wondered lately if several of the reviews I've read were actually from people that had played the games. It seems they play for five minutes then write for two hours.

I don't know I'm getting really jaded a lot of the most fun I've had in games lately was from games that received horrible reviews. Like bulletstorm... not it's not cerebral no the story makes little sense and yes the characters are a bit cliche and horribly developed. You know something though, the game doesn't take itself seriously and neither should you. It's an insane joy ride of foul language jokes that are so horrible they actually are funny, and some really creative combat systems.

For all of these reasons the game received horrible reviews.
At the end of the day all the reasons I was told to hate it was exactly why I loved it though.
I wish I could quote some of the in-game jokes and stuff here, but these are family friendly forums so I have to restrain myself.

To be honest I don't usually read reviews until after I play the game this way I get to see what the reviewer was looking at, and to see if I missed anything.

With that said, the review that talked me out of purchasing the game initially had to do with the fact that I hadn't realized that this is but one of a series of the game title.

As I said before I've never played any of the fallout games till I picked up Fallout 3, so I don't have a problem with jumping in here with Armageddon, just want to know how much I'm missing as I don't really intend to play all previous Red Faction releases, just as I didn't play any of the previous Fallout releases.

Anyway I agree with your assessment on the game reviewers (professional) as I sometimes think that they're biased towards the big games, anything else gets crushed because it isn't established.

Again, thanks for the input on the game.

Well you do have the knowledge that there was storyline before.
I didn't get the feeling I was missing any enormous plot points though
You seem to be a descendant of the original character, not that character himself.
There are numerous references to you having a famous father though.

OK, I may pick it up when I get some extra cash I can afford to spend on a game.

Any back to Dragon Age 2 - I'm going to give it another playthrough once I install the new patch. Been wanting to replay it anyway since I did enjoy it.

    Thanks.

I actually find our Games forum here better than most reviews.

In fact, I value the opinions here more than I do many "Professional" reviews. Occasionally theres a good one though.

Sure, many of us have different tastes in what makes a good game.
Some only like FPS, some RPG, some a little of everything.

But, anyone who frequents these forums soon picks up on what type of gamer is giving thier opinion, and whether you have anything in common on a what a good game is or should be.

I suppose that in itself makes a huge difference as well.

I personally admit to being a larger fan of shooters.
The only game format I never was an enormous fan of is RTS, even though I still have played many of them. It's just not my favorite format for gaming.

Im lean more towards RPGs myself :)
But do like quite a few shooters.

RTS games are a bit of hit and miss for me. Some I cant stand, some I love.

Civilization & Total War I do really like though.

To be perfectly honest Civ always seemed like a glorified board game to me.
A lot of people love it though so more power to ya.

Ok,first Hi all gamers, now I did read most of the posts, and I just wan't to share my take on dragon age 2, it's not gonna be a in dept review, just my take on it.

Firstly, dragon age origins when it was relieced had amazing graphics, and story line ext. But when I played dragon age 2 I actually uninstalled dragon age origins just because it was not as good as the second one.
a few pro's of dragon age 2 (imho)
    1. Great Graphics(if you include the texture patch)
    2. Funny,witty dialogs.
    3. The main character can speak!!!!
    4. Great gore and combat spells effects.
    5. Amazing characters.( Yeah, i love the pirate slut,so what?!)
    6. You get realy cool mods for the game, for instance my character looks just like the main hawk preset, except,no beard(younger), blue-whitish eyes(like in the dragon age sacred ashes vid). He has custom glowing blue swords, Issabella is blonde,Merril blonde with blue eyes and so on. You can get these mods on the nexis forums under dragonage 2.
    7. I have finished the game 4 times.(male warrior, male rouge, male mage, female rouge(personal reasons. ) and every time I had new missions when I decided differently on some questions.

    Some cons would be
    1. The map doesn't allways show you where to go.
    2. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!SPOILER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bethany dies if you are a mage.

So my take on Dragon Age 2 is that it is probably the best rpg out now( yeah I include the witcher 2), I love the graphics, comedy and storyline. AND I get to mod the game,so that my character (as a girl now) looks like issabella with morigans hair, big twin blades(bigger than she is) on her back and the freaken GLOW!!!

So this was my take on the game, and I loved playing every second of it!!!

AND REMEMBER THIS IS ALL IMHO

Glad to see you liked the game. Not sure I want to turn some of my characters into a Britney Spears look alike pop star but to each his/her own.

    Anyway thanks for sharing.
