    Dragon Age: Origins

I just managed to grab DA:O from a friend of mine who stopped playing the game (I don't know if this game has multiplayer or not, but if it does, I'm not interested), so he gave me the game disk and other stuff with it. I wanted to install the game on my PC, but whenever I want to install it, when I click on "custom install" or even "express install", and click next, it'll come up with an error telling me the setup's stopped responding and closes. I've looked online for any solutions with Google, but there have been literally no solutions. I've never really had any problems installing games before.

When I also try using autorun (I generally don't even use autorun, I prefer using setup.exe), it'll give me a couple errors; Error: Switch from current encoding to specified encoding not supported. Line 1, column 40 in inter XLM settings. Then it'll give me a second error that turns up blank.

Any help is pretty much needed at this point. And I can't really return the game to the store seeing as I have no receipt, and the store he bought it from isn't here anymore.

I have also attached a Dxdiag in case people need it (it took me a while to remember what to type in "run", seeing as I forgot, haha.)

Don't own DAO...do you know if there's any DRM on it...being an EA published game I'd assume so...what is it?

I have no idea what DRM is on it. I chucked the box when I grabbed it a couple weeks ago. I just haven't gotten around to installing it until yesterday (I forgot about it, mainly). I'll have to check what DRM it runs when I come back from lunch.

Okay, I'm currently at a college library, and I just checked DA's DRM. A website I visited is stating that it only uses a cd/dvd check (pretty basic) for the game, with no "online authentication" garbage. It also says it does not use SecuROM, either. So I don't know what is causing the installation problem.

Does anyone have any ideas on why this won't install?
