Well, go with what Slash might recommend. Technically, you can go to motherboard information and look at the specs, most vendors and sellers will put technical specifications of the motherboard and just keyword search for PCI Express. While some manufacturers will state they have better response times, at this point your focus is budget than certain levels of performance. And to be honest, some of them are very nanscent to the most common user.

SATA 6.0 Gbps is basically the data rate speed the board can go up to with regards to Hard drives. So if you have a hard drive that can support SATA 6.0 Gbps, the transfer rates will peak at 600 MBytes/s. Current SATA is 3.0 Gbps, so peaking close to 300 MBytes/s for data transfer. Faster == better for load times. However, the limitation at this point will be the drives and how fast it will be able to access data and if it conforms with SATA 3.0 Gbps or 6.0 Gbps.

The board can use slower drives, so it isn't necessary to GET new HDs unless you want to get more data throughput.

As for your last question, from the base tech specs it shows, it has a x16 PCI Express slot for 1 GPU running there. The supported CPUs are listed on a tab, the highest, from the looks of it, is the Core i7-2600 (3.4G,L3:8M,iGPU,4C,HT,rev.D2), which should be a quad core, hyper threading processor with 8 Megs of L3 cache, so you have 1 CPU processor type you can go up to from the i5-2500 previously mentioned. (It has 2 other variations listed of the i7-2600, the K and U types.)

The only thing you should concern yourself would be the memory. It will max out at 16 Gigs of DDR2 RAM, which isn't too bad and you don't need to necessarily go that high. I would lean more to 8 Gigs of DDR2, as 4 Gigs on a 64 bit is meh, better to use 8 for some breathing room. Or stay with 4 if you want to run Win7x86(32 bit).

The only real benefit of x64 for you is making use of more memory if you happen to be a heavy multi-tasker.
