Bioshock

For some reason, I cant seem to hear any sound during game play of Bioshock, but the weird thing is, during cut scene movies, there is sound.

    Anyone experience this problem before?

im running 7. some people dont have a problem, chances are that it's hardware related.
i have an on-board Rltk HD as well, but my dedicated card is an X-Fi. i read some people have fixed it by lowering the sample rate, it didnt fix it for me, but it's worth a shot.

Have you tried updating Direct X, this usually resolves almost any problems within the game performance:

It doesn't matter which version of Windows you have (YES, this includes 7 and Vista 64 and 32 bit versions) you must update direct x in order to run games smoother and less "crashy".

    Get it from here:

Have you tried messing with hardware acceleration? I know that there is a known audio problem with Assassans Creed, could be a similar issue?

    Had this problem myself.

Bioshock does seem a bit 'glitchy' to say the least on 7.

I have it running as administrator and XP sp3 compatability mode. Have had no probs since.

Also, just make sure you have updated drivers for you sound card.

Also!, when you run the game, make sure the sound setting in game is set to the same advanced setting for you sound card. e.g. if you sound card in device properties is set to 5.1 make sure the in game is set correct to. hard to spot in the game options but there are arrows either side of the sound setting in the centre of the screen.

    good luck!

Weird, I had no problems whatsoever installing and running this through Steam. Windows 7 7201 x64. It runs flawlessly and in full 5.1 surround.

I had that game on the 32bit beta and it ran like a charm there without problems. The only problem since is that is was bound to that one installation of 7!
