I think he's talking about the demo.

    I believe it's the 13th.

Looks like it's available in some parts of the world already though.

Rat in a microwave. I missed the Duke humour :)

I think Duke is going to be split up into three main groups:

    • Kids who never played the original 'won't get it' and just bitch about the outdated graphics.
    • Those who will be disappointed because of unrealistic expectations considering the time it took (the majority... )
    • And those who will enjoy it for what is.

I've only played for a few hours, but I've had some chuckles and some fun.

Yay found out why my spacebar during the quicktime event didnt do nothing. Turns on its because of my crappy graphics card. I had to turn the resolution way way down so that I could execute the spacebar quicktime event, otherwise duke didnt even move a inch.

Hope this helps anybody else, since I wasnt the only one with this problem, nor will i be the last one.

Game itself is okay, its not magnificent or the best game in the world, but it is a good timekiller and a diecent game with DUKE NUKEM ofcourse. BTW anybody whining about graphics, are not true gamers. Games are not for sightseeing but for playing. That means its only gameplay that madders. Graphic shouldnt be judged on a game at all.

Hit the nail in the proverbial Head I think.

To me, this is like a Max Payne game, I would buy it and play it just because I loved the others and not because it was the best game tactical wise or graphic wise.

Tell us a little bit about the game experience smarteyeball being that some of us poor zaps have to wait a few more days and can't get in the Demo ride

So far it's a typical linear, checkpoint based yet solid FPS shooter. With over the top humour :)

You can interact with a lot objects in the game world, the majority are simple things like turning on/off lights, showers etc or picking up objects to throw at enemies. However there are a few interactable objects that increase Dukes "Ego Bar" (basically his regenerative health bar), so it's worth interacting with a lot of stuff to find the useful ones to increase your max health.

You can drink beer to take more damage, or use steroids to insta-gib enemies in melee mode.

Gameplay wise, it's far from ground breaking and the graphics do indeed look dated. But overall it's still a fun game.

Those who remember the original Duke3D will probably more tolerant of it's shortcomings and get more enjoyment out of it than those that never played the original.

    EDIT:

The 'only two' primary weapons does suck though - not sure why they went with that decision

There was a lot of complaining about that. Apparently it has something to do with how the distribution system is setup:
