Good, hopefully GameGuard will stop using its dodgy methods to do its job now. Luckily the games that use it are mostly crap but nevertheless, I have avoided any game using GameGuard since XP.

Wow this sucks.. Lets go GameGuard FIX IT!!!
I have not checked all the games on the list but this workaround worked great for me to address the problem with Chronicles of Spellborn, and will most likely work in other games as well.
- Install whatever game you want.
- Install the game Crossfire.
- Delete the GameGuard.des file from your game which is not working properly.
- Replace it with the GameGuard.des file installed with Crossfire.
- Run your game and it should work fine.
- Remove Crossfire if you do not want it wasting space.
Verified this again last night with The Chronicles of Spellborn on Windows 7 Build 7100 x64 ultimate. Went from not working to running great. When you start the game, instead of crashing GameGuard will run, download some new files, and the game will launch.
I tried this with Gunz and indeed, this did let me get past the error 0 or whatever it is, however after game guard finished updating itself and the main game started to initialize itself another error came up stating something about "the game terminated by unknown error" and closes. So i guess this will only work with some games, anyways Gunz doesnt work with this fix.
Personally ive always hated game guard just because its a bogus anti-cheating implementation. It always reports my one media player i love to use as a hack. As far as im concerned GG is a hack in itself hooking into everything and the way it works. I always liked X-trap better. Too bad so many free games use GG. For now ill switch back to my previous OS and switch back to windows 7 once GG is forced to become compatible once windows 7 is retail.
If you get past the Game Guard problem and get to a game specific error make sure to try all the normal things such as different compatibility modes, and disabling desktop composition and effects. :)
i already had all firewalls off, UAC off and compatibility mode set for xp. Like i said im just going to wait till compatibility issues are dealt with (much later). Theres other reasons besides games im waiting too, although one of which probly wont change (refresh rate issue). But i give microsoft props for improving performance.
...I must be the only person that this fix for windows 7 didn't work on. I downloaded a version of the GameGuard.des file that people were saying worked for The Chronicles of Spellborn as well as installed Crossfire and used that games GameGuard.des file (by the way crossfire runs fine on my comp) and I still get error:0 when trying to load spellborn after making the file swap. Any ideas anyone?
My gameguard works perfectly on Seven.
First i had the erl error. I just deleted the Gameguard folder in the game and let it to redownload again.
My game had no problem with gameguard after that.
I replaced the gameguard.des file with the "fixed one" Then it launches perfect starts to update and when it trys to launch the game... i get "ERROR 114" GAME IS ALREADY RUNNING. PLEASE TRY TO CLOSE THE GAME FIRST. BUT THE GAME IS NOT RUNNING AND IN PROCESSES THERE IS NO GAMEGUARD.DES I've tried everythign... try downloading MLB DUGOUT HEROES 1.0 from Gamecampus the game is so sick and fun to play and I can't get this to work!@#!@# hELP!
I also have the same issue with rappelz. I have tried replacing the files and done many things and have spent hours searching for a cure. Odd thing is I can get Warrock to play but I couldnt get Sword Of The New World or again Rappelz to work. Hope there is a solution.
