Glad to hear the problem's resolved, fox.
As for your situation, d, try running it with SLI disabled if that works than it's either a scalability or driver issue.

Im pretty sure the Avast anti virus was causing the hanging. Switched to AVG and it is definitely better
Hanging is back...not sure what it could be or why it was fine then came back. Any thoughts?
Well hanging can come from a number of issues
Heat
Card going bad if you are in SLI one might be dying
Not enough power from the PSU /but that would cause a bsod most likly if it was under powered
processor could be working to hard to keep up /what kind of cpu are you useing ?
last but not least bad incompadable drivers
All the specs are posted on my specs thing but I think for the game I am playing it shouldnt be a problem. Even Half life one does this
Also today I booted up, to play a game of counterstrike and killing floor and almost instantly starting hanging.
The fan is blowing warm air but I dont think its overheating
I got the latest catalyst control and drivers from AMD, and games are up to date
Also should be noted that i have friends with the same laptop who have no issues
one has slightly different setup so i lowered my settings, seemed like that made it worse...
Not sure whats going on here. Would a Hi Jack this help anyone?
Well my friend you aren't the only one with this issue
Newegg.com - Acer Aspire AS7552G-6061 NoteBook AMD Phenom II Quad-Core N950(2.1GHz) 17.3" 4GB Memory DDR3 1066 500GB HDD 5400rpm DVD Super Multi ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650
check out the reviews for your Lappy pretty much everyone has the same problem hanging during game play only on windows
Most of the complants sent it back to the seller /I really don't know what to tell you at this point alot of the postings they tryed alot of different methods and it persisted so they opted to return it
Im not sure if you still able to use warrenty But it seems like this laptop is a Lemon
Damnit....
thanks man
well my hanging is only for a second or 2...not 30 or more like they claim...Those reviews were after I bought it, had i seen them i would have considered another
Other than this issue this laptop is great
Yeah no problem
I would wonder if it has the correct voltages
I'm thinking irregular voltage spikes could cause a delay
is the power to the lappy suitable /does it get real hot and consume alot of energy ?
just a thought
You might have the wrong RAM in there. I see you are running 12gb at 533MHz. To run 12gb, I think you need 1066MHz. Have you tried putting the stock RAM back in there and seeing if it works?
Here's what Acer support lists for your model as far as RAM upgrades
- Up to 4 GB of DDR3 1066 MHz memory, upgradeable to 12 GB using three soDIMM modules5(for 64-bit OS)
- Up to 4 GB of DDR3 system memory, upgradable to 8 GB using two soDIMM modules5(for 64-bit OS)
Maybe I'm an idiot and the speed shouldn't matter. But give it a shot. Some computers are pretty picky about what you put in them (especially lappy's). And if I remember correctly, in my mobo's manual it says that if I want to use 8 or more gb's RAM, it has to be at least 1066MHz.
