i've got some bad news for you, I have had a lot of errors like this before upgrading to 7 and i can tell you 100% confident that your operating system files are starting to degrade, a stackhash_0a9e error is a module fault, it cannot be repaired, you would need to re-install windows to fix this issue.

Quote:
If errors do find their way into the database it can cause problems within the operating system, leading to conflicts and crashes. The result of this is that programs that should be running properly suddenly start behaving in strange or unpredictable ways. You may possibly even begin to endure error messages including appcrash stackhash_0a9e as applications begin breaking down for no obvious reason. Unfortunately, you may find that your computer becomes unusable after a while.

OH NO!!!

so is it possible that this will get worse and start infecting other programs over time?! then a cleanout will be necessary in the near distant future! oh no! but thanks for the heads up. i already move important files to an external HD once a week, but i will be more diligent and move files more frequently from now on!

judging by the crashes that you've encountered, i'd probably say(off personal experience) about 3 months max if you keep defragging and optimising your system, eventually you'll get the ntldr is missing on boot up, sorry

O_O

oh gosh thats horrible... is there anything else i should be looking out for? like, any other signs?

and what about the end? when everything finally comes crashing down, will a clean start fix everything? and how might i prevent it from happening again?

I'm not sure how this happened... Calm down, its not exactly going to 'all crash down', just things may start not working randomly. Even though if something happens to Windows, none of your files will get damaged or lost at all, so they can all be recovered. Just continue using your computer normally, but when you have the time/chance, go ahead and clean install Windows 7 again. Then make a system image after installing drivers so that if anything happens again, you can just recover from the image and be on your way again. We'll help you with the process of doing so if necessary. Have a good day,

actually started on the process a bit... went through everything on my system and made backups. right now theres nothing important left on the laptop. sometime today or tomorrow ill go through with the clean out and reinstalling... is there anything i can do to prevent this 'meltdown' from happening again or is it just something to do with Windows 7?

Sarah, look, its not really a 'meltdown', MrNeeds was kind of over exaggerating, its just that some core Windows .dll files are corrupted for some random reason. A repair install might fix it, but its better to just clean re-install.

^ this guy knows his stuff, sorry for over exaggerating, they can be recovered but it's just not worth the time and effort to recover, all your files and folders are safe if you've got backups.

Again I'm sorry for over exaggerating, I was a little bit on the drunk side last night
