don"t worry man there are alot of other games out there what i will say about FC2 is that it is very buggy game like gta4 i cant even get this game to run at all on win 7 rtm. take it easy man.
lol, I've already finished the game in Vista, (and have quite a few unfinished ones on the HD) but I wanted to compare the performance between my old cards and my new cards, so it's not a huge deal.

However this particular game is somewhat of a nemesis. It's the only one that always semi-worked in Vista, but has consistently failed to work in 7 since build 6801. It's behavior has got me stumped - so it's become personal

I seem to have a thing for buggy games. I'm currently battling with Arma II.... that game makes FC2 look like polished perfection

I'm not looking forward to fighting with GTAIV in the RTM either

    Thanks mate.

Just curious though, what's your definition of smooth? My framerate yo-yos badly between 20-30 with lots of dips into the teens regardless of settings.

In fact I hardly notice a performance difference between medium and very-high settings with all sort of combination's in between

As for the campaign bugs and squad-mate AI...

(oh no, 2 is down - oh no, 3 is down -, oh no, 4 is down. Of course they are down... they were just standing there facing the other way during a firefight, even after being told what to do. If you can't find cover, at least go prone FFS! )

sorry OP, this is getting a little OT :)

i dont have any issues with FC2 on W7..??, even on DX10 im getting very playable frame rates....

earlier drivers would not let me run DX10 AT ALL, the lag was disgusting, but since the 180.xx drivers all has been well.

& i bought ''Arma 2'' the other day & ive gotta say.....''ITS TERRIBLE!!''

I get great framerates in FC2 - when it plays

As for Arma 2, it really needs to be tweaked. I spent a few hours today working on it and have managed to improve my minimum framerate by about 10fps so now it averages between 30-40fps instead of 20-30. I can now call it 'smooth' :)

Some of these tips may help Mitch:

    cheers mate.....

after i applied the patch & got the added ''AA'' options i was quite upset to find even on 2xAA the chop was far too bad to play it....

i think its a seriously CPU intensive game, & my little C2D is struggling with it

Yeah, even all my 4 cores are getting a workout

One setting that really helped was the 3D resolution/fillrate - by dropping from 1920x1200 to 1680x1050 things obviously looked a little fuzzier, but it really ran smoother.

The other big killer is the draw distance.

i will have a play with the settings later on see if i can squeeze a few more frames out of it
