I wonder if this crashing in Far Cry is just the ATi crowd then?

It's either that or Dan's one smug/ lucky errm... personage...

I have found that memory leak this weekend though. Oddly enough if I play through the first crash and simply restart the game it doesn't last as long as it did the first time so I'm wondering if this may be a containable problem.

A stupid idea occurred, would those old memory optimisers have any impact? They're pretty much defunkt now with the prevalence of cheap memory but I was wondering if having that recapturing memory would perhaps stem the leak or at least fix it so that if you restart the game it lasts just as long as it did the first time around.

As for Arma2, I thought that was possibly the worst game I've tried in recent memory (which is a long time as there's only been like half a dozen games made that I'd play in recent memory!!). It's fuzzy, like Flashpoint, and the movement is like a shoulder cam tied to a beagle going full tilt! That stuff used to be acceptable but as it hasn't moved since flashpoint I think they're just getting new money for old rope and the worst thing is... they had mine!!

I was so desperate for a new multiplayer game I took the chance. Damn them!

Yeah I heard the same thing and bought 2x7600GTs then a 7950GX2. Problem after problem. The next build, 3870X2... not a problem since except a couple of weird driver issues where it'd border the screen on my desktop. They've since fixed that and each driver release actually seems to improve things where as with Nvidia I rarely noticed any change.

I guess it's all experienced based but in my experience ATi has always been more reliable and they go from strength to strength rather than cutting edge to oblivion.

Oh and 2 hrs isn't the problem until after it crashes the first time. I think that between 3 and 4 hours is my record but then it did crash. A restart sorted that though.

FarCry2 runs spectacularly well on mine - on "Ultra High" as well - haven't had a CTD, yet..

..same as you, using 2xXFX4890's in Crossfire mode - running via W7 vers 7100 64-bit..

I guess you got the latest patch and stuff..??
