    Nethack/Falcon's Eye

This would be my favorite game, except that it has some quirks that are extremely distracting and annoying, being that the screen often blacks out for a moment, exactly when one needs to see it most, and sometimes it acts as if the mouse button was stuck, and the character continues wildly moving about, even after releasing the mouse button.

I once thought that these problems were either installation or hardware errors, but they have remained constant over multiple installations of both the game and OSs, including XP and with a variety of graphic cards, mice and drivers. Now I'm wondering if there is any way possible to fix these, or if these "flaws" were programmed in by the evil mind of the programmers, to make the game even more unpredictable than it already is?

Hmmm, could you try playing the game in any of your Linux distro's you have to see if you still get these issues in Linux or not.

Unfornately, my Linux is down at the moment, and even if it weren't, I still want to improve it in Windows, where I spend the majority of my time.

I have absolutely no idea. However, after a quick scan of the tutorial, it looks as though it would take someone sharper and more determined than myself to make any game work with that.

@seekermeister - Use Ubuntu from a USB or Live CD and try running the game. We have to see if its the game's fault or Windows fault.

I can already tell you that won't prove anything, because I know that it plays okay on Linux. However, the fact that it doesn't on Windows doesn't mean that it is Windows fault, it probably is just the game itself. The game is not being developed any longer...at least not for Windows, and I suspect the same is true for Linux, because the distros that used to have it available on their CDs, no longer do. Therefore, I don't believe that it is a matter of where to point the finger, only whether it is possible to do anything about it?

Not sure, but the download page hasn't been updated since December 10, 2005.
