xbox 360 head to head gaming with PC laptop

OK I searched google and here and really can't find a solid answer to this. I have even read that windows 8 might have this feature at some point.

Anyway I want to play first person shooting games like black ops from my alienware against my nephew on his xbox 360. reason for this is I have never really played games on a xbox so am a total noob and being left handed makes learning a little harder. He never had a pc able to play games for the most part but has the xbox. So how do we hook up and play against each other? hardware won't be an issue as I am getting a large settlement which will allow me to buy any hardware needed. As I will have an Alienware m17x and the amd 6970 graphics that will be my machine of choice. If I have to buy another laptop and figure out how to get an xbox controller working for the games then I will do that as I might be getting the wife the alienware m14x so he could use it. either way he needs a controller and I need the old keyboard and mouse but if we could go head to head from PC to xbox that would be even better.

PC vs. Xbox is a no go as far as I know.
Now if you have 2 PC's and 2 copy's of the game, your set, Xbox 360 controller is Plug-n-play with windows and the Call of Duty line does have controller support.
As well if you have 2 Xbox 360 and 2 copy of game, but you would have to learn to play with the controller.

Cross platform gaming is possible, lost planet colonies is cross platform via pc and xbox 360, however, its online multiplayer, no local multiplayer unfortunately.

the other option is to look into onlive gaming, its compatible with PC's mouse and keyboard, and also uses a controller with it's own games console, more info here > Welcome to OnLive.com

Sounds like its going to be 2 gaming laptops and a controller for him. I have been trying to learn the xbox controller buts its like learning to write with the other hand after 40 years. I have been playing games left handed on a pc (which takes a lot of new keybinds on its own) for about as long as first person shooters hwve been around.

I already have to buy a second laptop for my wife since once I get my rig NO ONE except me will use it, so the cost of a controller won't really matter. Only thing he will have to deal with is a smaller screen since his xbox is hooked upto a 50" tv.

So does black ops allow for local matches? Will be check out the pc version site but asking here also.

Im curious since you've said this is street fighter 4 dual platform cause it sure seems like it with the really weak internet connections

By the way I'm a Lefty too i picked it up just fine i play both platforms more pc but once in a while console on ocasion but being a Lefty has really nothing to do with that control it should be a bit easier that the real time action buttons are on the left side of the controler just a tip for future games

I guess using my right hand n arrow keys for movement and the mouse in the left for sight direction has a little to do with it. I do know that using my thumbs feels totally wrong. I don't even like texting since its all thumbs. The other part is playing like a noob when I have competed in pc lan parties for large prizes and I also ran an americas army clan that was top ranked for a few years. So moving away from what is second nature to me to a totally new interface(comtol method) feels very odd and frustrating to learn.

Please ignore any typos as I am using a android tablet and tend to male many mistakes.

Understandable ,I started out on console coleco vision /atari /sega master sys8 bit /nes etc

As for Pc gaming i have been Pc gaming since pitfal pacman on the huge 8 inch floppys /then you know current for me i like to adapt Nothing is more satifying then handing a console gamer his ( you know what ) to him when you tell them you're more PC gamer and he thinks you're a easy win ....

If you are Competetive like you say, you would understand sticking to one style is
not a good thing to do When you learn to evolve it just makes you that much better my friend

Oh I do understand. Growing up my parents wouldn't buy me a consol system so that didn't help. When I fianlly had a pc that could handle games I didn't own a tv and for the past few years I didn't even have a pc able to game on. Since my greyhound trip and accident I will finally be able to buy a gaming laptop and start gaming again. I have been trying to learn the xbox controller but with family stress and issues with my bad kidney putting the time into it just isn't there. Not even sure I will game as much as an alienware price tag would call for per say but at least when I do game I will do it with style lol.

I cant say about black ops, however i know MW2 and anything before DOESNT have controller support. You can download programs and set the setting to work with these, however its not ideal. Also PC FPS's games are alot harder than consoles as the mouse offers more accuracy, and consoles also use a slight aim assist to aid with the use of the joysticks, which isnt given on PC. So unless your Brother is some aiming god, i feel he will struggle and find it unenjoyable. However feel free to try yourself, just offering advice.
