    Games for Windows Live.

    Hi,
I've got a question. I've asked Microsoft for an answer but they could not solve the problem.
I've tried to install games for windows live. The problem; i don't have the rights to install Games for Windows Live. I've tried to run it as administrator. I've enabled the administrator account (wich microsoft says is impossible). But in my search to find an answer i've narrowed it down to this.

I cant get the rights for C:\program files\
i've tried to change things in the properties, security and all the boxes are checked.

dont know what else to do.

note: why would ms still want to install programs in the C:\program files\ Because if i could change it to the C:\program files (x86)\ the problem would be solved.

    Welcome to 7forums Tafkat! =)
Go to that folder's properties and follow this tutorial to change the owner.
At step 6 click on other users and typein NT SERVICE\TrustedInstaller, exactly and hit find, then ok.
Try to reinstall the app and keep us informed.

Speedgamer01 thank you for your reply. it didn't work.
i guess it didnt work because the owner of the map is SYSTEM.

i found this on the forum. ive tried to run takeown again but "access denied"......

i also got another anwser from ms. The solution they give is: Buy a game that uses GFWL that will solve the problem. i think i'm not gonna answer on that one. (because thats what the problem started)

Ok, the point was to change the owner when you have added trustedinstaller to the list (wiht the code+find+ok above), just click on it again and select Ok. You will have prompted again, just hit ok.

Take ownership is the first step of gaining access over something, God helped you to not to take ownership over windows files XD, the problem is that the installer app (windows trustedinstaller) doesn't have access to it.

Post back if you have managed to change the owner - er - it would be better to change the owner of only a subfolder (and not progmramfiles) so try it with microsoft games, or whatever it need to access.

    Heey,

    thanks for the help.
But i've reinstalled windows, had the plan to do that anyway. Because i found out i could not even update the driver on my videocard.
    that solved the problems.
I can install what i want (for now )
