Uninstall and get rid of all registry files related to the game. I've done it before and it has worked flawlessly. Of course your case might be different, just a suggestion.

My Evo sent this on its own.

Just a thought, do you have any Store Items? EA created Content? That can cause issues too.
    No, no store items.

I can give that a try. I'm hoping that's a last resort if there's no other quick ideas.

At least one crash was DEP related.

    Another was from XP?

A patch issue... or something. It was looking for the wrong executable.

I would actually follow vierasnipers advice and use Revo to uninstall, to clear the registry keys. (Sims leaves loads and loads behind when you uninstall) Download Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Free and Full Download - Uninstall software, remove programs, solve uninstall problems

Okay, I'm reinstalling now. I'll test and let you know, but that might be tomorrow.

    Thanks for your help.

Well, after removing everything, and reinstalling, I'm very surprised to say this may be resolved, but it's still too early to tell.

I just created 4 sims, and customized them for about 30 min and then I'm in game now ready to play. I've saved my progress too.

This is the farthest I've made it, so this reinstall and scanning the registry may have solved the issue.

    I'll report back.

    Yeah, I spoke too soon.

I played for about and hour and a half. I restarted my computer for whatever reason, and then started sims and updated it. When I started playing again, it crashed after about 5 minutes.

I don't know what's going on now. It says in the dump that it's a DEP problem, but I've changed the settings in DEP. I have all the executables in the program files folders including the patches included in DEP exceptions.

I'm thinking that another clean install will work again, however, I don't see the point of a game that you can't update ever. Not trying to be whiny, I actually do want to fix this.
