Advice need on setting up gaming system.

I have a Dell Dimension E520 that I use as a Media Center. I would also like to use it for some gaming but I am not sure if the specs are good enough. What do you guys think?

    It's running a Core2Duo @ 2.5GHZ it has 4GB ram and has a 1GB Graphics Card.. Running 7 Ultimate 64Bit.

install a game a see how it runs.
also the model of the video card will help us determine if the card is powerful enough.

That is exactly what is needed. I would upgrade the card if you can afford it. I need a new one too...

It's not that bad, most games would run fine on lowered settings. Also depends on the kinds of games you want to play.

Yup I'd just drop the settings to start with..and as stated above it depends on what you want to play.
