VC++ Redistributable error 1603 while installing FIFA 12

    Hi,

I bought a FIFA 12 game via Flipkart an online site. I am getting an error while I run it. The origin client is installed properly, the game extracts properly. But while the game is installing, I am getting an error that VC++ is not installed . Error 1603.

I tried downloading the VC++ redistributable package from Microsoft and installing it, but I am getting an error saying a higher version of VC++ redist is installed on the system.

Any idea what I can do with this ? Is this a problem with my windows ? Because I have had to abandon a few games because of this error.

Exactly which redistributable of C++ did you download? 2010 is the latest one, and the game should work with it, unless it requires a specific version. You should check the game folder for the setup and install it from there, because every game has C++ (if needed) and DirectX setup.

I had downloaded the 2010 version itself. But that gave me the error that a higher version is installed on the system.

The game setup has vc 2008 setups. That just errors out completely. I tried removing the existing VC++ by using windows uninstaller and still the same problems perists with both version !

Too confusing.. I am assuming there is something wrong with my windows ??

I'm not too sure. Perhaps it would be a good idea that you use a third party uninstaller software and remove the latest installations of VC++. I'd suggest using Revo Uninstaller Free. Install it and run, then choose the VC++ installed and double click it, confirm the action and make sure you use the "Advanced" uninstall option. The program will make a restore point, run the original uninstaller, so go through it, then be sure to, after scanning both the registry and leftover files, remove ALL of it completely. Then try installing from either the game folder again or VC++ 2010.
If that doesn't work, perhaps your download is corrupted. I don't think it has anything to do with Windows unless you already experienced similar problems with programs using VC++

Yes sir ! I have had this issue a few times before. Mostly while installing games...

I have uninstalled using a third party software CC Cleaner and still the same old issue.. Like I said.. I have faced this issue with other games so its very dis-heartening.

Mine is an original windows 7 which came with my Toshiba laptop.. But I don't have the installation cd..

    What to do now ?

Ccleaner isn't really suitable for uninstalling anything. What you need to do is to do a "clean instal" of VC++ and the only way to do that is to use programs like Revo to erase ALL data of the software you had and uninstalled. I suggest you use that instead of Ccleaner, which is more suitable for deleting obsolete keys from the registry and fixing up different kind of "problems and errors".

Hey I have Microsoft .NET framework and Microsoft Silverlight and MS SQL Server 2005 also installed. Do you want me to remove any of those ?

I have downloaded Revo and will try once you confirm.

No luck.. I un-installed VC++ using Revo. But then for FIFA to install an Origin client has to be installed. This stops working once I un-install VC++. So when I re-install this Origin client, it is back to square one !

Then the problem is either with your Windows or the game you downloaded.
Have you tried contacting Flipkart for support, if there is any?
