My Game won't install because I have a DirectX problem please help!

I purchased Madden 08 online from Direct2Drive. Cannot get this game to install. I have been troubleshooting this for 2 days. I have an on going dialog with a D2D tech that I will continue but so far there has been no results. This appears to be a directx issue.(My best guess) I have inserted 4 attachments with this post. The 2 image files are the error messages I get. The 2 text files are Directx Log and DXError Log. Dxdiag reports Directx 11 is working properly under all the tabs.
Here is a list of the things I have tried thus far to fix this issue, none have worked.

    1) Downloaded Directx web update new version as well as Directx 9.0c, they have an error report during installation of there own.
    2) Downloaded Directx redist version the exact error occurs.
    3) Tried to install game as well as Directx in safe mode.
    4) Tried to install with a clean boot (msconfig).
    5) Downloaded a program called DirectX Happy Uninstall (this software claims it can fix my issue however I must purchase the program) I've been around long enough to know that route may work or it may not.
    6) I searched and found articles on how to manually install missing DirectX files. This is no help because I don't know what file is missing.
    7) I have tried to install the game with Windows XP SP3 compatability mode as an administrator.

I have a lot of games installed on this PC that work great. I thought about uninstalling DirectX and then trying to reinstall but I am afraid to (what if I am successful with the uninstall and not with a reinstall then I would have a much larger problem than I have now LOL). I do not understand how to decipher the log files. I stated all the steps above so that you would know they have been tried already.

If any of you out there know the solution or can think of something else I can try please respond. Thank you, Marshall

How good are you with the registry?

Try and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DirectX and see what values Version and InstalledVersion are.

Okay. Looking at your logs, I see the error referenced is 0x80070005. This is an "Access Denied" error. Have you tried running the setup as administrator? Are you, yourself, an administrator?

I'm currently looking more deeply in to this, as it may be more than just being an administrator. I.e. permission problems with the folders (DX used to screw this one up in the past) and other things related.

Hold off on playing around in the registry.

This error is pointing to the game itself, not DX in general (as it relates to the system). In short it's a game issue (well, maybe).

Seems the game is missing some files. Are you sure the game file is good? Have you tried redownloading it?

Do you have issues with other games?

Also have you looked at the EA forums?

    ^Key facts:

Game won't install because DX install fails.
    DX Web installer won't work.
DX install won't work despite a clean boot.
DX error logs point to an access denied error.

It's a DX-related problem, not with the game.

For the mean time, I also advice installing the latest drivers for your video card.. They could help too.

Yes, this is my PC and I am the administrator. I did run both the game and the directx install as administrator. I know this game is a little old but they don't make PC versions of Madden Football anymore. I had a Vista 64 bit setup before I built this one and this same game, it ran on that system without a hitch. Direct2Drive just responded by email and said they had helped all they could and referred me to the easports web site. Of course I tried that before I contacted them. There is no find-able information on their web site for Madden 08. They show some kind of clickable link to an adviser but it took me nowhere. I appreciate your trying to help. I can't find anything useful on microsoft's site either. There is an answer somewhere. Thanks for helping.

    To Signus21

Yes, I wondered if I had an error in the original download so I downloaded it again and used Direct2Drive's download manager as they boast it helps to make sure I would receive a good download. The second download was identical as the first and produced the same results. Thank you for your help too. Marshall

Did you try updating drivers for the mean time?

    ATI Radeon

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker might work too.

I have the product key provided by my purchase. I was wondering if there could be a trial version somewhere that I could download and use this key with? Just a thought
