cyborg 9 second scroll wheel battlefield 3

anyone think of a reason why the second scroll wheel mapping wont work on bf3?

normally i have the anti clockwise movement to crouch, and clockwise to prone, but id doesnt work 99.9% of the time.

occasionally if i spinn it round and round it will do as i will do as i want but very rarely.

ive tried different combinations of mapping the wheel, and testing it, it works perfectly in windows and every other game.

    I have the same issue

I can make it work sort of, if you set the key in question to Latched in the profile editor it will work, but is effectively keeping that button pressed until you press something else, which obviously causes issues outside of BF3 should you do it accidentally.

    You found any workarounds?

    Cheers

ive tried lots of things, to no avail. I have just settled with prone/crouch being used on the side 5 and 6 buttons.

just feels less fluid than scrolling a wheel back or forth.

    Frustrating isn't it.

I haven't had the mouse long but bought it because I liked the look of the thumb wheel for BF3.

The key bind thing works perfectly everywhere else, so I assume it's a Battlefield 3 thing. Some people have reported changing the Raw Mouse Input setting has helped with mouse bindings, but I guess in this case it isn't actually a mouse bind.

I'll keep at it and let you know if I get anywhere.

    Cheers for replying.

ive not had mine long either. i bought mine because it just looked the dogs danglies! and it was a wireless mouse that didnt suck!

I havent tried downloading any saitek drivers in the last 3 weeks, so unsure if that will help at all.

I have a feeling it may be something to do with the thumb wheel not having an Up and Down shift state.

Trying to work around it with a macro of some sort.

    Will let you know.

Bit tricky so before I type it, do you still care or you happy with new setup?

I am anxious for the answer on the thumb wheel thing also. Just got my R.T.A. Albino a few days ago.

Guess I am going to have to figure what a macro is?

A macro is something that determines the output of a specific input.

For example my macro keys on my keyboard are programed for preset chats in games. pressing say the 6 key example will output "J thanks[space]for[space]the[space]team[space]kill[enter]"

the on battlefield translates to me typing "thanks for the team kill" in one press of a button.

the program that comes with the rat mouse allows you to create such things easily, in the case of the mouse, i would like rolling the side wheel clockwise to be "Z" or prone and anitclockwise "ctrl" or crouch in game terms.

I tried to bind the keystrokes in the cyborg software so rolling the wheel would do as you suggested but nothing happens in game. Cyborg has some downloadable profiles and they had one for BF bad company so I tried that. Thumb wheel kinda works for what the programed so I need to look at what they did differrent than what I was doing.

Thanks for the reply. I will keep at it.
