Just played CS:GO because of the free weekend on Steam and... wow
I can safely say I'm glad I didn't buy it at the pre-order/launch reduction, as even at 33% off at the moment it's not worth it.
I described it to a friend as "CoD for hipsters". Now, don't give me any of that nonsense "ehh, but CS was around before the original CoD" - I don't care. Alone in the Dark existed in 1992, but Alan Wake is better than AitD 5. I primarily use a PS3 dualshock controller via USB using MotioninJoy. I was slightly excited when I saw that CS:GO boasted controller support as I'd enjoyed Portal 2 on PC using my controller (I find controller sticks and triggers better than keys, but mice can be better in FPS games than an analog stick). So, I started the game and, well, horizontal reticule movement was fine. Vertical however was awful. It kept jumping to the sky or ground, it was sluggish when I tried moving it, and it kept going the wrong way. So I tried using keyboard and mouse. Unbearable.
So, not only does it have the tiniest plot ever (as usual), the graphics are pretty poor. Really, it is the most underwhelming game I've played all year, and I've played NFS:Most Wanted, so that's saying a lot.
