Finished up Deadspace 3, wasn't impressed. The expansion helped a little, but it was too short. Awakened does give a little hope that they've gotten their heads out their asses for DS4 though.

About halfway through Tomb Raider, which actually is an improvement over the more recent titles. Not hugely impressed, but it's sort of Far Cry meets Uncharted. The 'extra' Tombs don't make a lot of sense though. I mean, i know it's Tomb Raider, but you're usually rushing about in what should be time sensitive urgent tasks, such as getting to someone before they get killed. It's a bit out of place and jarring to get distracted by one of the Tombs when you're supposed to be frantically rushing to somewhere else because of the main plot.

You do have all the time you need of course. Nothing happens before you arrive, there is no real 'timer' and the tombs have been largely interesting [and short, none of them are more than a couple of rooms so far], but it kind of breaks the flow of the game to get distracted during the events of the main story by a crack in the wall and shiny objects. You also really suck at saving people. Just sayin.

Still, it wouldn't have been so hard to work the optional tombs into the story, even as side missions. They're just out of place as they are now and break the pace and flow of the main plot. Not that it's all that great anyway, but still.

I know you can ignore them, but you should go through any one you find right away. They're a good source for resources and xp you shouldn't pass them up. Honestly though, I could have done without the upgrade system. Tomb Raider doesn't really need RPG elements tacked on to it. They only serve to slow the game down and aren't really a step forward for the series. I'm hoping they cut the upgrade system and resource gathering out of the next one. It just doesn't work for an action platformer/shooter very well. Doesn't break the game, but it doesn't help any either.

It would be better served to be more like Uncharted and less like Farcry as far as weaponry and resource gathering goes. Less like Uncharted as far as QTE's go though. The first part of the game is filled with QTEs. It's horrible. Thankfully, they go away for the most part as you progress, but it's a bad habit that games need to break. It was a cute mechanic to get around hardware limitations for big action set pieces at one time, but now it's outdated and unnecessary. QTEs need to be used far less than they are in recent times, and Tomb Raider is a prime example of a game that would be better if it had a lot fewer of them.

Doing Skyrim again as a bare handed Nord [unarmed only] just for Lulz.

Bioshock Infinite is up next. I was going to play it sooner, but I was having texture issues because of a game bug. By the time I fixed it, I was already into other things so it got pushed back.

Looking forward to Farcry 3: Blood Dragon at the beginning of May. I remember the eighties, and I get what they're going for with that one. Should be radical.

Not really had time to play much at the moment, but the time I have had I've been playing The Walking Dead. Picked it up on Steam when it was in the mid-week sale or whatever last week and I'm loving it.

been playing FC3 Blood dragon. It's a fun spin off as others have said. Very 'red' though

The first hour or so felt like what Duke Nukem could have been, minus the titty jokes and aliens.

They really did capture part of the 80's essence.

This is how game engines should be used. 6 months to develop a similar, yet totally separate game. Screw fancy cutscenes and foo foo.
