It wasn't really bad. It was slow paced, your character had Malaria and needed medication periodically or you got all sick and could eventually die, and it was pretty grim, even more than either of the other two. It was also set in Africa as opposed to a tropical island. You were after 'the Jackal' who was some sort of terrorist and it had a crappy ending. You never see or even meet the guy, there was also a terrible twist near the end.
That being said, it was a fun playground. Reasonably destructible, lots of animals but no hunting requirements, it had an engine that controlled the fire in the game making it an interesting environmental obstacle and weapon, and the controls were decent. It also switched to a different area halfway through the game, still in Africa, but you didn't end up in the area you started the game in and needed to finish the side quests before a certain point if you were going for total completion.
Not really a bad game per say, but not as good as Far Cry or Far Cry 3. As a place to run around and cause havoc in it was actually better than the original Far Cry, but everything else about it was not as good.
Actually Far Cry 3 is very much like the original Far Cry. The setting is similar, there were pirates, and animals were a hazard. There was no hunting though and eventually you ended up fighting mutants with super powers. A later expansion gave them to the main character as well, but the original version did not that I recall.
Far Cry 3 is the best of the bunch gameplay wise, Far Cry had the best story [not saying much], and Far Cry 2 had a decent sandbox to run around in, but the story was weird with slow pacing and a shitty ending, and the illness mechanic limited gameplay and exploration a little. It did take a while for you to get sick, but having to manage it was a bit annoying. It was more fun as a sandbox toy than as a game though.
The constant drive here, drive there, drive everywhere for fetch and get missions. Additionally, the clearing of checkpoints only to have to go through them again, and thus clear them again. All this get tiring right fast. Lastly, for me, it's nothing like Far Cry 1, which is one of my all time favorite games.
If you ever get a chance to try Far Cry 1 give it a try and you'll see where I'm coming from. I'm not going to say you'll like it, but you will see how different it is.
I am playing Far Cry 3. It looks nice, The last fun one I played was Tomb Raider, I felt it had solid controls and gameplay. It was fun to play it! I enjoyed the controls and the story although most people say it's not all that great.
I am looking for a tactical strategy game. Anyone have any tips? I been looking for something like Yu-Gi-Oh Monster Capsule Collisium. I am working on finding an emulator to play it, it was very good!
