L.A. Noire on PC - LAG Discussion, Please
So what's the deal with L.A. Noire on the PC?
Rockstar promised that upon release it will work on a wide range of hardware, but that just doesn't seem true at all... Quite literally, it works just the same as GTA4 before the famous patch that fixed all that crap.
And I have to say that I've tried every possible setting to remedy this, but to no avail. There are three command line options to put in as an extra, but none of them seem to actually increase performance except one:
-str -npd -nonv
the middle one being the only one that actually made a difference.
But the game still struggles a lot, and though strangely, driving is usually calm, a simple task of repositioning the camera can be quite a pain. The only thing I seemed to figure out is that it must have something to do with the lighting. During the missions that take place in the daytime, the lag is unbearable at times. During the night, and sudden movement under street lights and indoor lights can also cause this awful stuttering.
The only thing I haven't really tried in detail is lowering the resolution of the game 'cause my monitor is FullHD (1920x1080) and any other resolution doesn't really provide me with a good view, the image is either stretched a la fit to width/height, or adds black bars at the top and bottom of the screen.
I understand that my hardware (barely) passes the minimum system requirements, butI should be able to play it with all the settings at low...
And believe it or not, setting it all to Balanced instead of Performance does nothing for me! The game will continue working fine in situations where it has worked fine before, and continue to lag constantly; no changes.
Weird... Does anyone know if there's a patch coming out soon? I really hate having tons of accounts on every frikken support forum for a game I play, so I just don't bother registering...
Also, any other advice (preferably from experience with this game on the PC?)
