Finishing Skyrim main quests in 2 hours
Well,he banned for some reason, maybe he was too fast for the forum.
Hey guys.
I've recently been building a new computer, and installed Skyrim on it. After getting out of the cave I notice a slight stutter. I can coordinate the stutters with HDD activity.
Should I be worried?
Game probably needs to be loaded completely.
Likely, there are frequently a ton of textures to be loaded for new cells.
I had mine installed on an SSD and noticed the slight stuttering even then but only when like entering some large cities for like 2-4 seconds after entering.
I sorta fixed it. I forgot to patch! Apparently, one of the patches removed it. Now, the only thing left I have is some hanging. The game is hanging for like one second while the Harddisk is bursting with activity! First run is always worse of course.
This will happen when I discovery new areas.
A friend of mine has had Skyrim since December, and already has levelled his character up to Lvl. 84 while I'm only Lvl. 15!
Defrag.
It will help with some of the stutter.
But, its a Bethseda game. So you will never completely get rid of it. The engine itself has a bit if stutter in it.
I too notice a little bit from time to time and my game sits on a SSD.
But what you are describing sounds more like the system waiting on the HD to fetch DATA (aka hitching).
Try tunning a good defrag pass and see if it helps some.
Less fragments the HD needs to seek to should help a bit.

Looks nice, though I don;t think it'll fix the one real bug the game has and that's a ticking time bomb in the save file that kills your ability to play past a certain number of hours or areas explored or in world time or something. I'm really looking forward to future mods but I'll have to do it with a noob character as my moderately capable main can't play the game for any period of time any more due to the save game bug.
First mod I want to see?
Total horse makeover. (Some of these are available now but...)
1) More stamina, come on, horses can gallop further than that.
2) Ability to tell to STAY or stay by default unless you tell them to attack.
3) Ability to talk/interact with NPCs from horseback.
4) Ranged attacks (Bow, magic etc) from horseback.
5) Ability to have a follower jump on the back of your horse and go with you somewhere.
What else? I spend at least 50% of the game on horseback, the horse really should be better integrated into the game in a realistic manner. In Red Dead Redemption you could do a lot of that and that's an older game now.
