Are you guys running Skyrim with Antialiasing and Anisotropic Filtering on or off? Taking it off seems to have removed the lag at random places. Even-though you have a high-end card. (I have GTX 560 ti).

    Fred.
All on at 8x and 8x. I hate all the pixel shimmer you get with them off. But yeah those features, the AA especially are frame rate eaters to be sure.
All I heard about AA was bad things.
But it seems to take effect on my high-end card for some reason. I do not see any pixels at all.

For some reason I seem to lag inside Whiterun, is it something you also do?
I get a little stutter in Whiterun but barely noticable. Where I do get the most stutter is the area leading to the mage's college, but once inside the stutter goes away. I commented on that here - Discuss Skyrim

As for AA settings I have both AA and AF on as posted here - Discuss Skyrim. The game's auto detect system chose ultra high and I have no issues at those settings other than the occaisonal stuttering, which is far better (less annoying) than what I had in Oblivion with all the texture mods, and Fallout New Vegas, without mods.

It seems the bugs come and go, previously i played for an hour, and got two CTD's, now i played for 3-4hours and everything was perfect. no problems at all...
The CTD's are completely random and the patch hasn't done a darn thing to fix them.

Yeah, I thought at first the patch was good for me, but the purple armor stuff is getting worse! How do you bring out a patch that not only does it NOT fix anything, but it actually creates more problems?

As for lag, I have all on ultra, and full AA and AF and nothing lags, I get 2 fps drop near mage college, but thats from 60 to about 58 sometimes with a dragon battle at the College I will get 57/56fps, but never any lags.

Is there an in game/console way of showing FPS? Or are you using FRAPS or ??? to get that info?

Most people just use FRAPS for this info as I'm not aware of any in-game console to gleen this info from.

    Looky there -

Continued Game Updates – This week we released update 1.2 across all platforms, and we’ll be releasing an incremental update next week. We anticipate it will be up on PC first, and then hit PS3 and Xbox 360 later in the week. Among other things, the update will fix issues like magic resistance not calculating properly and the rare, amazing backwards flying dragon. Once the update is released, we’ll share the full release notes.

I experience CTD's on games from as far out as five years ago (Sims 2, Oblivion, Fallout 3 etc.) to the present releases. The only ones I never, ever experience those with are the truly ancient ones like Warcraft II.BNE and similar. I'm lead to believe all newer "port" games are doomed to run into these no matter what. If they would instead develop games FOR PC FIRST (which should be how it's done since they program the damned things on PC's) there would not be any problems and they could port the PC versions onto the bloody consoles seeing as they're "so perfect"...

And heck, they should start offering to let gammers test everything BEFORE it launches to the full retail release and I'd wager 99% of issues would be solved lickety split. In fact, isn't that what almost every software developer does (i.e. Microsoft)??? The missing link!

My only complaint would be that they get the fix out before the weekend, but oh well, at least (according to them) it will be released next week. Let's just hope that patch doesn't break other stuff.

As to the rest of the article, I like what I'm reading and I absolutely love this idea....

Steam Workshop – We’re excited to share news that we’ve been working closely with Valve to integrate Steam Workshop into the Creation Kit. Using the Workshop, you’ll have free user content with the push of a button. The Creation Kit will bundle your mod and upload it to the Workshop, where everyone can browse, rate, and flag mods for download. You’ll be able to do this from any web device, including your smartphone. Like a live Netflix queue, when you fire up Skyrim, mods you flagged will be automatically downloaded and installed. Everyone here is really excited about the opportunities and possibilities this opens up for our entire community.
I just hope creativity doesn't get stiffled due to "rules and regulations"

Wait, wait, wait! Steam workshop? As in... the creation kit is going to have to be run with Steam too?! If that's so, I will:

Then again, maybe the fantastic Razor 1911 team will break Steam away from it like they have for Skyrim itself. I ♥ them! Saving one system from Steam at a time...
