Didn't know you could buy a dog

After lydia, I don't even like having NPC 'companions' even if they are part of a quest. All of them just get in the way
Yes you can. You can ask from the dog to "wait".

    Well i bought a war dog,helpful

Btw i notice in many Skyrim forums, faqs etc that many gamers finish the game by playing only 75-80% of the game.

After i complete any mission,i read 5-6 different faqs to check if i missed anything and they missed many things.

I play and finish first all the miscellaneous quests (i have 20-30) and i always check again and again the same area to complete every aspect.

I may need months to finish the game but i enjoy every moment!!

You can buy one from a trainer in the stable area of Markath for 500 gold as I recall.

I thought the same when I first got Lydia. I married her then told her to stay at home and that I expect dinner to be on the table 5pm sharp every day.

I think it's time to get married myself

I've done a bit of a back flip on using companions. Cicero was amusing for a while and didn't complain when I hit him, but he does wear thin after a while. I might as well try all of them now.
