    Pc Lags with games?

    Hey guys,

I'm having incredible frustration with my pc. It LAGS during most games, including the following:

    Crysis
    Resident evil 5
    Need for speed: Hot pursuit
    front lines; fuel of war
    etc

So, these games require good system specs right?

    Well here are mine:

    3.0Ghz dual core CPU
    3 GB DDR 2 x 800 Ram
Nvidia GeForce GT430 1GB 3D graphics card with latest drivers installed

    OS: Windows 7 ultimate x 32 bit

So why on earth would these games lag??? IT's DRIVING ME INSANE! I can't play them without a lag and my system specs are above the "REQUIRED" system requirements to run the games.

    Any ideas?

    *SPECIAL NOTES*

    1. There are no additional process's running in my process's that are chewing up my memory and slowing my pc down.
    2. PhYsix is set to auto so it selects the best CPU for physix controlled games. And I've also tried both.
    3. My games are run in the LOWEST possible game and graphic specs to try make it
    less laggy, to no avail.
    4. 3d is "disabled". So it can't be slow....
    5. I do not have any virus's, and all my display drivers are correctly installed and up to date.

Might just be a corrupt driver run this latency checker to test. DPC Latency Checker

Might be a stupid question, but do you have the latest drivers downloaded?
I recently had some lag problems in-game and I simply fixed it by updating the Soundcard driver (in most cases Realtek), and all the device drivers. And of course the Graphic Card driver, but I assume you have that updated.

    interesting

Thanks for the advice. it does show about 4 different lags, but does not pinpoint them... so it doesnt really help much. Any other ideas?

My graphics drivers for my gt430 were updated today to the latest version drectly from nvidia. My sound drivers however, don't go any higher than that. so i guess it is the latest version. And with the nvdia download, HD 3d sound drivers were also updated and installed. I's not just the game that lags, it is the sound too..

What about your devices? Mouse, keyboard, headset, webcam etc.

You could try removing dust in the computer, mouse and keyboard, a compartment may have got jammed.

Or try updating Flash and Java.

All my devices were bought brand new and they are all plug an play. So i doubt that would be the issue. Also, i did clean my pc out with an airgun earlier today at the pc shop. so it's squeeky clean.

Lag is dependant on quite a few things - game, game settings, hardware, GPU, CPU, hardware setup, drivers - you get the point. Also a lot of people associate lag with on-line gaming, where microstuttering, or slight stuttering is the game itself - not associate with on-line gaming.

Anyway just to be clear about this....

Does that mean you have 3gig of RAM running at 800MHz?

And being that you're running an odd setup for a dual channel system have you looked at your motherboard's owner's manual to see if the RAM is installed on the motherboard in the correct configuration?

Again, since you're running 3 gig of RAM I can only assume you're running either a 1 and 1 setup - one 1 gig stick and one 2gig sick, or a three stick setup - 3 1gig sticks. Either way if these aren't configured correctly according to the MB manual, issues could arise.

That said I'm confused about your system specs, your specs in the link say 2gig, yet your post says 3gig
