    COD 4 - black screen

does this happen to anybody else?

i've just installed COD4 on windows 7 x64 and when i try to play it. the screen just goes black. and nothing responds at all. so i have to press the reset button on my comp.

    why is this happening?

    e8400 3 ghz cpu
    6 gigs RAM
    evga 8800gt
    onboard audio...

eh, so i thought the onboard audio was the problem because reading around, some people say realtek drivers mess up cod4 for whatever reason.. but i uninstalled my audio drivers, and disabled onboard audio from bios, and game still doesnt run.

Did you downloaded latest Win 7 drivers from nVidia for your graphic card???
I run CoD4 without any problem...

That might to be a problem. I've had similar problem earlier with CoD 5 when I installed drivers from update. Try to uninstall drivers from update (or all drivers) and then reinstall nVidia drivers.
    That worked for me.

I'd also recommend using a good driver cleaner after uninstalling the old but before installing the new. I use DriverCleaner.net myself, procedure is:

    - uninstall old drivers in Normal mode after logging in
    - boot into Safe Mode
    - run DC.net to remove NVIDIA drivers
    - boot into Normal mode
    - install new drivers
