    Installing Serious Sam 2

I can't get it to work.

I tried running the setup.exe in compatibility mode for XP and Vista, but it still doesn't install.

The error I get is "Only part of a ReadProcessMemory or WriteProcessMemory request was completed."

We really need you to fill out your system specs (in lower left corner) so we know what kind of hardware you have. Plus 32bit or 64? Clean install or upgrade? Did it ever work? COmplete error messages.

Just a double check, this is Serious Sam 2 and not Serious Sam SE (that is quite often wrongly called SS2)?

Ah, ok. This is a fresh install of the game, haven't had it for a few years now, but I felt like some monster killing and this is the funnest game to do that in. The error is exactly what I posted above, except it also says "D:\Setup.exe" before that.

    System Specs:
    Motherboard Gigabyte something.
    Memory 1 Gb
    CPU Intel 2 x 1.60 Ghz
Graphics Card GeForce 9800 GT 512Mb
    Sound Card On-Board, realtek
Monitor(s) Displays Er... regular LCD monitor.
    Screen Resolution 1440x900
    Keyboard A4Tech Multimedia
Mouse 5-button gaming mouse from Genius
Case Random case. It holds my stuff in it with minimal spillage.
Cooling nothing aside the ones that came with the video card and PSU/CPU
    Hard Drives 250Gb, 500Gb
Internet Speed broadband, enough for most of my needs.
    PSU 550W Antec

    OS is Win7 7100 x86, clean install after a format of C:

Edit: The game is Serious Sam 2. The latest one (2005), not the Second Encounter one, which came out a few years before that.

I realize this is for XP, but most of the fixes should work,

When you try to use the CD drive in Windows XP, you receive the error message "The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error"

P.S. Once you get the game installed (and no it doesn't require compatibility mode), it runs great. Also if you install it to a partition or hard drive other than the Windows partition, you won't have to install the game again, just make a shortcut for it on the desktop. SS2 and the rest of the SS games are some of those that don't need to be installed every time if installed to a drive/partition other than the system drive.

If you have the space, copy everything from the disk to your hard drive, and then try running the setup from there. If it works you can delete the folder after.

Well, copying it to the hard disk and installing from there worked. But then it didn't start. So I'll just give up on it. There are other monster bashing games that I can play, and I know they work.

    Thanks for all the help.
