Running a DOS game from floppy disks

    Hi all,

I'm not very computer literate, but learning, lol.

I've got Silent Service 2 on 2x floppy disks. The problem I have is when I load the disks into the drive, it tells me nothing is there and to format the disks??

I've tried to find a way round this, but keep getting sent to DOS Box. Is there anyway to get the game onto the Hard Drive and run the game without DOS Box??

    Thank you for any help

Not old DOS games, no. You'll need DOSbox to run DOS games because Windows 7 won't run them. You're S.O.L otherwise.

You might be able to find some info about running that game on subsim.com - forums. But stuff on games that old is probably archived.

The CPU's nowadays are far more faster than the ones that were available when those games came out. The games just can't keep up with the speed :)

the only way to play these games now is to use DOSBox.
DOSBox, an x86 emulator with DOS

There is also a front end GUI for DOSBox called D'Fend Reloaded, which makes it all quite easy.
