Top first person shooters

I played Half-Life back then, but not really anymore. I also played all of the "expansions" it had. Opposing Force, and the Blue one. They were fun and interesting. Also gave you another perspective on the story-line.

Which Duke were you mentioning? Duke Nukem 3D, or the newest Duke Nukem? I played Duke Nukem 3D back in the day, and it was pretty good. I think it was released around '96 or '97 or so. Wasn't as fun as Doom 1 & 2 though.

I played FEAR 1, it was pretty good.

Half-Life 2 was pretty decent, I'd say.

I played them all, and they were good ones for sure.

But I would pick the first crysis game over them for the shear magnitude of the experience. The half life games had a good story and were fun to play, but my biggest moment of "Oh wow" ever from a game in the last 10 years was starting Crysis on my old PC with 4 gigs of ram and an Nvidia GTX 250. Even with the graphics turned down to medium so I could get a decent FPS rate, the first hour or so completely re-adjusted the bar for graphics and UI for me.

I've played most of all the big titles. The F.E.A.R series did a good job of suspense and FPS, but they could have found a way to vary the game play...just a little.... I mean, how many bloody hospital hallways could there be?? (Although the laboratory disguised as an elementary school was great)

Pathways into Darkness has not given me a break in challenge. Best FPS of all time.

I do agree with you here, all newer games are all about going out there Rambo-Style, Rinse and repeat.

Never played it but the same can be said about the Original Ghost Recon or Rainbow six... Ubisoft took over the franchise after they got recognition and all hell broke loose.

I really don't know how you can actually stand playing Doom 3 over Doom 2. O_o
